The best Halloween episodes

Okay, so with Stranger Things coming out today, you’re probably not really searching for any other Halloween-related or scary shows right now. But given that you’re probably going to binge all of Stranger Things season 2 within the next 24h (oh, that’s just me? Oh well…), here are some of the best Halloween episodes to get you feelin’ spooky.

Cream of the crop

Every show has holiday episodes – most center around Thanksgiving or Christmas. But several shows have Halloween episodes, even if they’re not every season. I mean, if you’re watching a show like The Walking Dead or Buffy the Vampire Slayer, every episode is basically Halloween already so…

Even the seemingly scary shows have Halloween episodes – just check out American Horror Story – Halloween Part 2. Arguably one of the best episodes of the best season of AHS anyway.

Or maybe you’re less of a scary-story person, but you still like a good Halloween party. So check out Parks & Rec’s episode “Meet ‘N’ Greet” or Friends’ “The One with the Halloween Party.”

Finance Friday: Budget Halloween

Halloween is objectively the best holiday. That’s a fact. Through college, I always put my costume off till the last minute, even though I made over-the-top plans in my head every year. My roommates would craft super-detailed costumes, and when the big day came, they’d be Daenerys Targaryen or Eleven from Stranger Things, and I’d be… a vampire. Black clothes and a lipstick blood drip. Always.

But you can have a way more exciting costume than I did, with almost no time commitment, and if you’re lucky, no budget either. Here are a couple ideas if you’re looking to make this Halloween just as savvy as it is spooky.

Slay Halloween for free

Thank goodness we live in the age of the internet, because it’s chock-full of ideas for Halloween procrastinators. You don’t have to drive to Halloween USA and drop $60 on the last available costume in your size. In fact, a lot of DIY costumes are far more clever and attention-grabbing than anything you can buy at the store!

Got some funky jewelry, an eyebrow pencil, and some flowers? Frida Kahlo. Plaid shirt and a roll of paper towels? Brawny guy. Got a yellow outfit and an umbrella? Morton salt girl. All it takes is some creativity and a few household items, and you’re well on your way to being the best-dressed person at the party. They’ll never know you put it together 45 minutes before you left your house. Don’t worry—I won’t tell.
Spooky scary skeletons (or not)

In the News This Week:

  • Catch me if you can: a 10-year-old boy stole his parents’ car and led Ohio state troopers on a 45-mile chase that reached 100 mph.
  • Lost at sea: two women who attempted to sail from Honolulu to Tahiti were rescued from their boat after being stranded at sea for five months.
  • Home at last: two Brazilian newlyweds adopted the stray dog that crashed their wedding. They hope their story inspires others to adopt!
