Coffee Sheets and Amtrak+Lyft

Coffee sheets

When was the last time you changed your bed sheets? No, really. It’s probably been too long. If you’re someone who gets really warm while you sleep, you probably sweat – which is then absorbed by your sheets and can result in bacteria that starts to smell after a while.

What do smelly sheets have to do with coffee, you ask? Well, according to an Australian bedding company called Ettitude, everything. The company produces sheets that contain a mix of bamboo yarn and coffee yarn. The coffee yarn comes from recycled coffee grounds that create sheets that wick away moisture and stay smelling fresh for longer than your typical sheets.

My favorite part? All the colors that the sheets come in are themed as coffee! Mocha, latte, strawberry frappe… They don’t smell like coffee though – which is probably a good thing if you’re trying to sleep!

Planes, trains, and automobiles

If you go to a school that’s a bit of a distance from home, you’re probably looking for the cheapest travel option for visits and the holidays. When you’re traveling long distances, air travel is usually the way to go. However, if it’s not too far, it can be much cheaper to take a train.

Amtrak is the nation’s largest network for passenger railway travel. Unfortunately, there are fewer train stations than airports in most areas, and they also tend to be a bit out of the way. Unlike the train/tram systems in European cities, most train systems in America won’t drop you off within walking distance of your home.

So what do you do for those last couple miles? Usually, get a taxi or a ride-share once you get to your train station. But what if you could book your final leg of the trip right when you’re booking your train? Lyft is now partnering with Amtrak to do just that – and they want to help you get to your initial train station, too!

The partnership has a lot of benefits to both Amtrak, helping them build popularity and grow its mass transit architecture, while it gives Lyft another leg up over their rival, Uber. They’re also offering $5 off your first four rides with the new service – click below to get the code for the discount!
