Uber & Pamper Yourself
Take some me time
It’s the WEEKEND!!!
I know that it’s not the weekend for everyone – hurray for working on Saturdays (me too). But when you have some time off from work and school, make sure you take some time for yourself. It can be very tempting to fill up all your free time with parties and plans with friends, but often by the time the weekend is over, you’re not as refreshed as you want to be for the next week.
I’m not saying you shouldn’t spend time with your friends, of course. Invite your friends over for some chill time together.
Here’s a list of relaxing things you can try!
- Make tea, coffee, smoothies, or hot chocolate
- Pick out a movie/show on Netflix to watch
- Foot soak! Epsom salts are super cheap and they make sore feet feel so much better. It’s perfect if you spend a lot of time on your feet or walking between classes
- Find some yoga videos and stretch out
These are great for hanging out with friends or even for a low-key, relaxing date night.
Uber, get your sh*t together…
Another day, another scandal.
After revealing a widespread sexual harassment scandal, an ongoing lawsuit from Waymo, loss of several executives (including the CEO), and drivers unhappy with changes and pay cuts, another problem has come along for the once-hailed ride-share company (see what I did there?)
This time, it’s international. Last year, Honda recalled a particular model of a vehicle sold in Singapore. Why? Oh, no big deal, it just has a nasty little habit of catching on fire. Yep. Fire.
So naturally, Uber stopped leasing these vehicles to drivers. Except… Wait, no they didn’t. Uber executives in Singapore were made aware of the recall, but continued to lease the vehicles to Uber drivers in the country.
At this point, it’s unclear if the Uber executives in the US knew about the recall at the time, but they’ve since introduced a recall protocol to keep the company responsive and keep its drivers safe.
In the News This Week:
Donut holes: Dunkin’ Donuts, an American icon, is reportedly considering a name change after opening a California store with different branding.
Vacation days: President Trump has departed on a 17-day “working vacation” while the West Wing’s air conditioning systems are rehabilitated.
Wells Fargo: after a large-scale fraud scandal sent the bank in a tailspin earlier this year, new issues have come to light that will bring more financial harm to existing customers.
Don’t let younger, immature you stand in the way of older, career-oriented you. You are putting a lot of personal information out into the vast World Wide Web and you can never take it back once you’ve posted it. And of course, you should be careful with your social media accounts and what you post. But googling yourself reveals much more than your social media accounts. Other people, organizations, and businesses may post information about you as well. I can guarantee you that possible employers WILL google you, and you want to be prepared for that.
