What Does Your College Major Say About You?
Choosing your college major is kind of a big decision; a decision that you may end up making a few times throughout your 4 years in order to find out what you really want to do and what will really stick. That said, whatever major you do settle on, can often say one or two things about your personality and how you view the world.
Of course, that’s not to say that not every computer science major sits in their parent’s basement night after night playing video games and not every pre-law major will argue every little thing you say. Everyone within each major is different and has a unique personality!
However, in my experience, I’ve found that a lot of times students within a major have some similar traits or qualities. Usually, these similar qualities are the ones that drew them towards picking a specific major in the first place.
Maybe you’re the observant but curious type, with a knack for storytelling. It’s likely that you’re a Journalism major. Or, perhaps you have noticed that you have much more patience and understanding than some of your other friends…sound like an Education major? Similarities like these seem to be recurring and are what bond students within a major together.
As for me, a Communications major, I can definitely tell that I mesh in with the other students in my classes in that we all like to talk. Talk to anyone, anyone that will listen, and we all enjoy making different connections with the people around us. Sure, talking in class may not always be the best decision- but it sure does help me relate to the other students on the same track as me.
So, what does your college major say about you? Do you agree with the traits here, or are there others that you have noticed yourself from the students around you in your major? We want to hear what you think!
