I have her for 1361 and she's amazing. I only went to her class a few times in the start of the semester for clicker points. Then I barely studied. I was expecting a B- for my grade but she gives a HUGE curve at the end. I got an A. ...Continue reading

I don't get why people are complaining. She answers any questions during lecture, she can be boring at times but overall it is a great class. People say Medrano is hard, however, I took her expecting to maybe pass with a C. First test was an 88--93 with the extra credit. Do the homework, attend class for clickers, do the quizzes for 5 extra points on tests. Should be an easy A. Test two is the hardest. Every other test is a breeze just study. I studied my tail off in this class. She isn't the best teacher in the world because she tends to cram quite a bit of material into her lectures and doesn't stay on any one slide long enough for you to take good notes. But, if you read and at least try to take notes in class and listen to her speak, you will be fine. I got an A. ...Continue reading

I loved Dr. Cheek! Attending class is mandatory. There was only one group project assignment but it was fairly easy. If you are majoring in Bio take her. Good Lectures! She teaches great and prepares you very well for her tests! I learned a lot in her class. Tests are really hard, but if you read the chapters, pay attention in lecture and go to recitation you'll be fine. The class is not impossible as everyone makes it sound, just have to be willing to put in A LOT of work! She was always enthusiastic and her lectures are entertaining when you engage in them. ACTUALLY UNDERSTAND the material, do NOT just memorize. Go to class, attendance is required! Easiest class ever. People say he's boring but it's biology! plus he draws funny stuff to explain concepts. And tricky questions&#63 No way they all come straight from the powerpoints and lecture. Plus lectures are recorded. I'd watch all 3-4 days before the test. Never once opened the book and made an A! ...Continue reading

If you're a premed student, this better be a refresher course. He actually responds to each email that he gets, and in a decent time. The book isn't that useful, just go to class and take good notes! And seriously, the tests aren't THAT hard... I got A's on all the exams except for one B, which I did not study for (I just paid attention in class). People who say the tests are hard probably never go to class and hardly study. Would've made an A if I had done that on my first two tests. Only studied for about three-four days before the test. Possible to get a 70 or higher on the extra credit quizzes by just reading the lecture notes. ...Continue reading

The class itself is boring and his monotone mumbling doesn't help. never attended the lectures, just watched the lecture videos 2 days before the test, read over the slides and aced it. Got an A and A- in Bio 1 and 2. People say hes boring but thats not true. Maybe if u listen to him in class but his videos are actually interesting. Looking forward to taking him for Micro Most people read and learn from the textbook. He gives 4 tests and a final and drops the lowest grade from the tests. I would have liked it better if he had more HW or something that could help my grade more rather than only tests. ...Continue reading

His PowerPoint? 4 optional Xtra credit quizzes @ CASA. 10% from clicker questions. His powerpoints should be your main focus but it doesnt hurt 2 have the textbook 4 detail. Try and attend class, his lectures are boring but when I consistently went I did well on the test. Tricky test questions though . Okay well I'm taking him right now. Very helpful professor, and explains concepts thoroughly. Even records lectures, so you can listen to them whenever you'd like. Only problem is his monotone voice. It makes class very boring. 90% of grade comes from 4 tests(including non-cumulative Final). s are GREAT, study those and you should have an easy A, it? s a lot of material still (this is biology what did you expect). Extra cred questions at the end of the lecture, so make sure you go. He? s a bit monotonous sometimes but he will answer questions. Go through his online material, he has a lot of guides that should help you. He teaches great in 1361 but if you dont understand any material he just taught, make sure you go ask him and understand. I thought he was ok, manged to get a B in the class, his exams are tricky! He doesn't talk very loud, and is always looking at the floor. He is knowledgeable in what he teaches. He doen't hand back the tests, or post them anywhere, so you don't know what you missed. His notes are very brief, so you have to read from the book and add to them yourself. Thats all I did. But you should also try watching his Lectures he posts online (the same lecture he does in class). NO need to attend class. The only good thing i can say is that hes helpful if u go to his office hours. The good news is that he records his lectures, so if you miss something, you can always check back. He's a very nice guy and easy to ask help from. Highly organized everything you need is online. I found reading the book invaluable. Read the chapter first, then listen to his lecture. Learn the concepts instead of memorizing. Exams challenging, first 2 more difficult than last 2. All exams and final grade curved. I read the book, watched his videos, made an A. ...Continue reading

Excellent professor! In my opinion, not only was he one of the best professors I've ever had, but his course was extraordinarily easy. Due to the numerous extra credit questions given on exams, I scored 100+ on every exam and finished with a 100+ in the course. This course is a very easy A. If you need help, he is very helpful. He can be funny sometime, but his test isn't hard, just worded funny at times. ...Continue reading

Easiest course ever. BE CAREFUL. However, I was extremely sick during two exams, didn't do too well, that was my fault though! Don't underestimate his exams, study hard!

Uhh. 4 tests and 1 comprehensive final. 1 test is dropped. 2nd test is hardest last 2 tests are easiest. Very receptive to email. Tests are based on lecture notes but I did have to read the textbook just for clarification. Enjoyed the class. ...Continue reading

I understand its Bio but still. Sometimes I wonder if He even likes Biology, or likes teaching&#63 ...Continue reading

I am truly surprised to see students complaining about Dr. Knapp's courses. his tests are ridiculous, this is the first year he started doing computer testing, I believe, and the test seem quite easy, but once you check your grade. . its not what you expect... i'm enrolled in it now and i may have to withdraw... ...Continue reading

Going to class is a waste of time. I read the book & lectures but when I take the test its like 10x harder! The class averages have been low Cs and Ds! No one goes to class. I sit there in a room for 500 & about 20 go. I think he tries but I don't see why make it so hard, its INTRO TO BIOLOGY! ...Continue reading

You cannot wing it on test, they are very tricky. Make sure to study.4 tests, no final, 4 extra credit quizzes. Book not mandatory or attendance. Great prof. ...Continue reading

NO need to buy a textbook, trust me, save your money,I didnt even open up a page. Lots of chances for extracredit/curves. ...Continue reading

Good teacher...I guess&#63 I didnt find myself coming to class very often...only to some of the reviews. Class is kind of boring, but hey it's biology.
