There are two sorts of hard professors the ones that are needlessly hard and awful, and the ones that are demanding, but give you their best and get the best out of you. Dr. Gallagher is very interesting and passionate. Lots of reading, but you learn SO much. Do the reading and participate, follow the study guides, participate in Statecraft, and you'll be fine. This class is a lot of fun if you let it be and put in the work. Dr. Gallagher is the latter. She is an excellent speaker, and fantastic at explaining the ins and outs of 3200, which can be very expansive. She is a tough grader, but fair.
