    She is a good teacher overall, the only thing I didn't like about her was all the notes you have to take, but her notes are just terms you have to know, so if you memerize all the terms she gives you in class, the test will be easy, and I must say I really enjoyed her class.     100% best Hist. teacher. I have never liked history and always done bad until Mrs. Burns class. She teaches by basically story telling. She is awesome i got an A in her class. Must attend class but if you dont pass then your an idiot! So easy with her!! Prior to attending her class, I disliked history very much. Now, I have an appreciation for it.     Dr. Burns is an excellent professor. Highly recommend. She does talk fast, and I end up with gaps in my notes. I bring a recorder to class and type the notes later or go back to parts I missed. You need to go to every class. She offers up to 10 bonus points for 2 easy assignments and you can get up to 3 bonus points on each test. I have never opened the text book.     Kinda shady hairdo, but this guys hilarious. Only teacher I have ever seen put smart comments in a syllabus- great call. I can imagine some ppl getting confused by the funny comments and satire but very helfpul and gets through tough topics while keeping interest.     She is awesome,but her class is a little difficult. Tests can be a little tricky, but if you read both books and at least go over your notes, you should be fine. Highly recommend for anybody to take for history requirments. I'm also taking hist 201 under her next semester. Hard tests.     She is very passionate about teaching history. She kept the lectures interesting and explained everything in a way you would easily remember. The course itself it very interesting and not hard to pass at all. She even provided her own notes and a bonus on each test so if you read those and come to class you will not have a hard time. I would definitley take her again. Her lectures are wonderful. She makes it very interesting. I've always hated history, but I loved her class. There's a lot of bonus opportunities.     I think she is one of the best teachers I've ever had. If you go to class and take notes, it is passable. She does post the notes and word list online. Her test are very challenging but are passable. She makes history fun, and cares about her students. Even offers to quiz you in her office after class.     Her lectures are very interesting and she relates it to what's going on now. If you don't mind that, I highly recommend her. She can keep you interested even if you don't care about history in the least. She's also very helpful. If you go to class everyday you have a definite C. Test come a little more than half from lecture and the rest from readings that she never discuss in class. So a test of 50 questions about 15 came from the reader. ...Continue reading

    Great teacher! This is not a lecture class that you can just sit through and hear the information and then expect to pass. She requires you to do a lot of reading but it doesnt count for that much on the test. If you are interested in history, then have fun, but you will definately have to work. Her test are hard if you dont at least skim the text and articles. Making flashcards helps a lot. She does give extra credit (10 points) so that's awesome.     She is very nice, but that doesn't help you get an A. Her lectures are good, but her tests are hard. Make sure to take lots of notes and READ THE TEXT & ARTICLES for tests! She allows 10 bonus pts. and all you have to do is sign your name down saying you went to a lecture (supper easy).     if you plan to take ms ostarly-ulfers, make sure your read the text and take notes...it will make the biggest impact on ur grade! she is an awesome lecturer who actually makes history seems somewhat interesting. You have to study and read the book and the reader. There is a possibility of 10 bonus points, and they were needed. I found that most of the questions came from the book.     She is very energetic about the class but history is boring so... She gives you the notes to print out and is so willing to give extra help! Her tests are a little difficult, but she gives a bonus opportunity on every test, as well as bonus points throught the semester! Even though it was a history class, it was not boring at all! TAKE HER :) Her test were only hard if you didn't study for them, and that's the bottom line. She always came to class in good spirits and energetic to teach.     She means what she says--the tests are straight forward 80% from the lecture and 20% from the readings or chapter, if you have trouble taking good notes don't take this class your notes need to be what she said the first test I read the chapter and took good notes and made a 92 the other two tests I didn't read for just took good notes & I got A's She requires ALOT of reading.     Ms. Ulfers was very helpful outside of class, and she was always willing to help. Though she rants on a little about her personal stuff, it feels refreshing compared to other history professors who are boring.     Do not take! Her test are hard as ever and nothing is worded so tht you cant understand what is being asked or clear of what the answer is. She tells you make sure to study tht because it will be on the test its not even on there!! not taking her ever again but the reviews were so good on her i did but they were all lies!     Did'nt really care for her talked too loud too fast class was boring multiple choice test were hard if you did'nt studt I got a D Don't recommend her take Nishaus i was lucky to pass with a C. shes very nice in person though. She teachs very well and trys to make it intereting though. Tests are okay if you study and read the readings. I would say class is mandatory but there were a lot of times where she wasn't even there. If you take her class be ready to do a lot of reading and note taking. ...Continue reading

    Dr. Ulfers is understanding and seems to be caring but her class was extremely hard. She got really into her lectures and made you feel like you were there when it happened. However, her test were so hard. I did excellent in High School History. I made a 48 on the first test so on the second test I studied for two weeks and read my book and the reader twice. I ma Her test are hard and really hard to read bc she literally cuts out questions from old tests and paste in on the new one. The maps are impossible. i wouldnt take her again. ...Continue reading
