Krupa is by far my favorite professor so far. His lectures are super engaging and he has hilarious stories. Get ready to read... a lot. But other than that it is a very fun course! ...Continue reading

Dr. Krupa is phenomenal! if i could have him as my lecture for all of my science courses, id be the happiest college student ever. ...Continue reading

I absolutely loved Dr. Krupa's class. He outlines clearly what you need to do to get a good grade in his class. READ THE TEXTBOOK!!! ...Continue reading

  • Class rating 5/5
Dr. Krupa is one of those teachers you'll never forget. Really passionate about what he teaches. He's very picky about test answers, but also gives out extra points at random. Read the book, attend class and recitation, and it's easy! ...Continue reading

  • Class rating 5/5
This is by far the most entertaining and interesting biology course i have taken in college. He hates giving good grades (likes to keep his test average at about a 75). He does have an ego but is hilarious at times. Bio majors, evolution is required and the only thing I hated about the class was practically being unable to get an A. ...Continue reading

  • Class rating 4/5
Lectures are actually pretty interesting. No reason to hate whatsoever. What I HATE about taking Evolution was his grading policy. He'll take off points on quizzes and tests equivalent to a questions worth if you do not put the right section or ID number. Who does that? Exams are easy as long as you memorize diagrams in class and in the textbook. ...Continue reading

  • Class rating 5/5
Such an amazing professor. Weekly quizzes with a lot of possible bonus points. He uses a lot of diagrams and always puts some of them on the tests. Overall I'd say he's a good teacher, though some people don't like him. ...Continue reading

THE BEST LECTURER I've ever had. He encourages class attendance, so in order to get notes, you must attend. It is worth it though! He is hilarious and makes evolution interesting. He gives quizzes on the book, but if you read it is very straightforward. Attending class and lab will get you a solid grade. 10/10 would recommend. ...Continue reading

  • Class rating 4/5
Dr. Krupa is an amazing professor, but his class is by no means easy. He really knows his stuff and what makes it more interesting is how he relates everything with his own studies. He is an interesting character and I would totally recommend him. Krupa really knows what he's talking about, and his lectures show it. Super interesting, spends a lot of time integrating his own field research. Wish he taught more so I could have him again ...Continue reading

  • Class rating 4/5
Great teacher and makes class interesting, however the tests are tough so make sure you study A LOT Exams are really specific, so you must go to all classes (though attendance isn't mandatory) and read everything in the book to do well in the class. Krupa is such a fun guy and relates everything with fun examples that help you remember major concepts. Take notes as he is speaking because not everything on ppts is on the exam. Examples are key! ...Continue reading

  • Class rating 4/5
Krupa is an amazing lecturer but his tests are just highly specific and downright unfair. You HAVE to pay attention and read the book. Quizzes are essentially do you remember the definitions of the vocab. He's a funny guy though, he has great stories, and he'll always keep you interested. The recitation is also tons of fun! A pivotal class in my year. ...Continue reading

  • Class rating 5/5
Krupa is a very charismatic professor and keeps the class interesting. Great teacher. His tests can be subjective, so go to every class! He literally knows everything and his classes are so interesting. His tests can be tough but as long as you read and study enough you will do fine. Make sure to take note of EVERY example he talks about in class. ...Continue reading

  • Class rating 4/5
Krupa knows what he's talking about and is genuinely interested in this subject. He was so good that I am no longer considering premed but rather a PHD in evolutionary biology. He is a great teacher. Always read the chapters and take notes from the book as well. ...Continue reading

BEST TEACHER I HAVE EVER HAD IN COLLEGE. Must read for the quizzes the material is straight out of the book. Doesn't put anything online so you have to go to class, which actually helped me. I definitely recommend taking him. For some that's not a good thing, but for me he is an inspiration. He has taken up the mantle of the many UK professors before him that defended evolution, and I deeply admire that. More objectively, he has an excellent lecture pace, communicates well, and knows how to weave in humor. ...Continue reading

My favorite teacher of all time. Don't get me wrong, the man is crazy (he eats roadkill, for starters), but he's a complete genius and a great lecturer. He's really gotten me interested in evolution. You MUST have the book for this class: all in-class quizzes are from book material. ...Continue reading

Krupa is a great teacher! Class was always great to go to. Gives weekly quizzes, but trust me, reading and doing well on the quizzes helps with the tests since quiz questions will be on the test. Great Professor. There is a reason hes the only one who teaches Evolution. Has won awards and it shows. ...Continue reading

He is by no means a bad professor at all. Favorite prof. to date by far. Just pay attention and stay on top of your work- you'll be fine. Not an easy class, but he really wants you to do well. Extra credit points and easy recitation assignments to boost your grade. If you have an opportunity to take his class, do so. ...Continue reading

He will drown you on the exams but quizzes and discussion can save you. Gave over 15 bonus points all semester enough to bring you to an A at the end if you got low Bs on the exames. Don't give up! ...Continue reading

Great lectures, will call you out for cell phones, but must attend! There are 4 exams at 70% class average, so do well on quizzes and homework and keep up with reading. ...Continue reading

  • Class rating 4/5
I'm guessing people who rated poorly expected to be spoon-fed material like in many other college classes. It is a hard class but he is a good teacher! He expects you to READ & ACTUALLY LEARN SOMETHING. Read, go to office hours and tweet him questions with Twitter. Do hw/study with other ppl in the class. It's not scary but u have to actually work. ...Continue reading

I took this online and to honest it was rough. Every lecture is long with 4-5 hour lab. The discussion part of the class wasn't to bad and that was easy points. The exams were ridiculous there were only 2. They covered 6 chapters each with corresponding lectures/videos and lab. Some of the test question come from other exams. Work Hard! ...Continue reading

Dr. Sargent is genuinely a nice person. He goes on long rants on unrelated topics. It basically is a class that focuses only on the textbook. Plenty of the students who don't attend class and just read the textbook do well. There are quizzes on Thursday that are not easy. ...Continue reading

His lectures are very scatterbrained, and there is not a structured connection to the text assigned. However he has been absolutely the worst professor I've had at UK. His lectures are so scatterbrained and pointless that going to class was useless. To make things worse you have absolutely no idea what will be on the horribly written exams. A straightforward class made impossible simply bc of the professor. ...Continue reading

Felt like an online class. Possibly had more to do with it being online. He provided little supplemental material to help with testing. Tests covered a massive amount of material with no input from him. I took all practice tests as recommended and did well, but they didn't seem to help on tests. He didn't give any feedback on anything. ...Continue reading

  • Class rating 2/5
I hated this course. However, lectures are the worst I've experienced, impossible to follow, scatterbrained, and all over the place. Going to class is pointless, just read the book and hope the tests go good which probably won't happen because the questions are just as much scatterbrained as the lectures. ...Continue reading

GO TO CLASS! Easy quizzes, hard exams. This course needs a lot of reading. If you get good grades on recitation and the quizzes, your overall grade will go high up. He also drops the 2 or 3 lowest quizzes. I missed a total of 2 all semester and it REALLY hurt me. He gives pops quizzes and a lot of information given in lectures has nothing do to with the big. He is incredibly specific on exams about this material. However, he is one of the most interesting human beings I have ever met and has crazy stories to tell every class. ...Continue reading

By attending her lectures and preparing for reading quizzes, you will understand the basic evolutionary concepts and vocabulary well. However, her exams are very difficult. You will need to study extensively for her exams! Her grading system is set up so that the recitation provides you with a means of compensation for exams. But STUDY. ...Continue reading
