Very difficult class, however Brewer taught the very simply. He is not that difficult if you actually study and do what he tells you to do. Most of the kids that complain say his class is unfair but the fact of the matter is with his curve he had TOO HIGH an average GPA for the FSB standards. DO THE ONLINE HOMEWORK. ...Continue reading

the most important thing about this is class is to stay caught up with the material! do not try to learn everything a few days before the test. I hate saying this but clearly students here are not capable of attending a top 25 bus. school if they think he's not that hard. Weigand in 221 was a joke, so kids expect the same thing. Brewer forces you to take your knowledge and apply in different ways. If you study and truly understand the material you'll be fine. He forces you to take responsibility for the material...so you actually learn! He respects his students a great deal and will go out of his way to help you learn the material. ...Continue reading

Dr. Brewer is a brilliant man. this class had some of the lowest class averages on exams i've ever seen though. he expects you to learn a lot of the material on your own. class time isn't really spent explaining concepts, mostly just applying them. as long as you stay up to date it can be reasonable. ...Continue reading

Tried really hard in this class, did all the reading and hw, got a C. Exams are impossible and need to be curved a ton just to have the average be anywhere near where he wants it. if you do the online hw and study hard for the exams, you will wind up with a B due to the generous curve. its very tough to get an A in his class unless you get a few lucky guesses on some of the exams. overall, i would highly recommend pete brewer ...Continue reading

My favorite teacher. He is very stuck on himself and believes himself to be a badass. Does answer questions well, but loves his soap box The tests are like the homework and quizzes and he curves them to a 79 percent average. Brewer knows what he is talking about and is more than willing to help if you are in need. I hope that I have the opportunity to work with him in the future. ...Continue reading

his exams are really tough, but his curves more than make up for it. This class really seperates the good students from the FSB students that make it it's ranking. The material is challanging no doubt, but if you put the time into the class you will surely earn no less than a B, especially b/c of the overly generous curve. Overall good prof I'm an accounting major and took his class knowing that it would be hard but at least you have some preparation for the final (he writes it)! I'm really glad I took Dr. Brewer and I'd recommend his class to most people. ...Continue reading

Dr. Brewer structures class in a way that engages his students, making class time go by faster and making the material easier to understand. Everyone bellyaches about how they're failing the class, and then he curves the average to 79% (way above any intro econ class at Miami) and they do just fine. If you do the online homework and just study a little, you'll do fine. It was the easiest class I took last semester. ...Continue reading

Dr. Brewer is fantastic. I can't believe some of these ratings. Brewer forces you to study and be responsible (apparently that's too much for Miami students). He was tough, but he was also extremely helpful. I was not an ACC major, but this was one of my favorite classes. He's a great professor and if you're not a slacker, you'll feel the same way. He will make sure you know accounting better than anyone by the time you leave, and it will make upper level accounting classes much easier! (Oh, and here's your chili pepper Dr. B! Can I have an A&#63) ...Continue reading

I agree with a lot of comments here. Miami kids are spoiled and think life should always be easy. Brewer actually makes you learn, 221 with Weigand is like taking a 10th grade math class, its easy. Brewer makes you learn, but he is fair and if you study hard, you will be rewarded accordingly. Took him for 333 as well, and he was a better prof. ...Continue reading

Brewer really isn't that bad. He has high expectations, but certainly doesn't expect everyone to be an ACC prodigy, which is why he curves his exams. Honestly, I love him: I think he's a good teacher, and it's a pleasure to be in the same room as him. ...Continue reading

Dr. Brewer wants to challange his students b/c Miami is a top 25 B-School. He is a good person and wants only the best for the students. First, you won't be humiliated if he calls on you for an oral quiz question if you just skim the chapter beforehand-- that's it. He uses a hot seat method to make you read the homework every night. Take him if you want a class that will keep you awake, but don't if you are unwilling to work very hard for maybe a C. His exams are incredibly challenging. He is incredibly helpful in answering questions outside of the classroom.
