    Simply put, Orgo is hard. Newcomb believes you already know all the material before you come to class. Lectures are pointless to attend. You have to teach yourself the material by reading the book and practicing problems. Join a peer study group! it helped a lot. Quizzes are easy, tests VERY hard!
