Dr. Kline is in the top 10 best professors I've had at wayne. After having an exam we'll be given an 80 word vocab quiz the next class. Too much stuff to memorize, and the pace was too fast. It would have been better if the testing material was broken down into smaller sections. The cyrillic alphabet isn't easy, and she basically had the whole class freaking out. ...Continue reading

She doesn't make learning Russian fun. She's very nice, grades very fair and really does know a lot. If she doesn't know something she'll admit it. She'll help you as much as she can, and really is interested in Russian life and culture. Some of her experiences may be a bit dated, but its ok, russia doesn't change quickly. ...Continue reading

She's nice and is helpful, but not very challenging. She's very intelligent and genuinely cares about her students' success. I personally think she's fine, too. I have to admit, I think I spent as much time checking out the booty as she was writing on the chalkboard as paying attention. ...Continue reading

I took this class to be able to speak to my Russian grandmother. Hard and boring. She will say a Russian word once and expects that it will stick to memory. I was interested in the language until I took her class. ...Continue reading

The course material was very difficult and the professor did not make it any easier. She kept critizing my pronunciation of Russian and yet all I kept hearing from her was her thick American accent. Impossible quizzes afer large exams. Kline would say a word once and you better knew it. Worse of all, her favoritism towards certain students was very obvious. If she liked you your tardiness and lateness would not affect your grade, if not...beware! ...Continue reading

This man was awesome. He wasnt the most descriptive when it came to what was on the tests (minus the final) however he was very fair on grading. as long as you tried your best you got an A. ...Continue reading

Never explained anything, never corrected homework, and never spoke a word in Russian. He is an idiot. He doesn't know how to teach and if you ask him a question he doesn't even answer it. I heard rumours that he doesn't know the Russian language. I now believe that he doesn't know Russian. ...Continue reading

If you have to take a class with him- DON'T!!! I don't know how this guy got his job! He only put us in groups and let the students explain the language to each other. If he is this unhappy in his job, he should just quit! ...Continue reading

By far THE WORST professor at Wayne State! He is consistently late for class, never turns back homework, puts students in groups to teach each other (what is he getting paid for!!), and can barely speak Russian himself. In fact, he even has the audacity to criticize native speakers on their pronunciation. Would have majored, but now, NO WAY!! ...Continue reading

Professor Sherman's Russian 1010 (RUS 1010) was the most enjoyable class I have ever taken! She also strongly encourages speaking and reading out loud in class, which makes for solid foundations of Russian pronunciation. ...Continue reading

She was very accommodating. I am going to be ending the class with about a 109%. you have to get used to her accent but she tries to make it easy to understand as russian can be confusing. ...Continue reading

Mrs. Sherman is an excellent teacher. Having her as a teacher is really cool. Some may not be able to understand her accent all the way in the beginning, but really, no difficulty what so ever. Sure, I was practically obsessed with learning Russian beforehand, but I could not have had a better teacher. She really cares about what she's teaching and her students, and goes out of her way to make class fun every day! ...Continue reading
