Missouri Pre-Service Teacher Assessment (MoPTA) Task 1 Contextual Factors Chart This chart is designed to help you understand the many factors that affect teaching and learning. Such factors include the community, as they relate to your teaching will help you determine the instructional strategies and approaches that will support your students’ learning. In this chart, address the factors listed as they pertain to your teaching assignment. The subcategories listed with each factor are just suggestions: there may be other subcategories that you would like to address, or there may be a subcategory listed that does not apply to your situation. You must attach this document as an artifact. Types of Factors: Community, District, School, Classroom Demographics, and Knowledge of Students Contextual Factors General Context of Your Students Grade and Developmental Levels – 6-8, Average to Above Average Levels (All subcategories listed in this box Age Ranges – 11-14 are required.) There are no ELL students at my school, as previously mentioned. For 2014, my school’s proficient MAP scores were 66.9% for English, 73.6% for math, and 63.4% for science. Classroom Demographics 2 Multiethnic, 4 Indian, 22 White (e.g., ethnicities; gender ratios; special 28 kids total: 12 boys, 16 girls needs, including those of gifted students, those of students with physical needs, and 1 student with a learning disability in math, those due to cultural characteristics) 1 student with a learning disability in reading and language, 1 student with a learning disability in math and language, and 1 student with ADHD. There are no identified gifted students in this class.
