Math 1070 First Exam Toolbox This is the Study guide for the first exam. It will not have questions, but it will have page  numbers for questions, destinations for good places to go for studying, etc. The instructor is posting a study guide via MyMathLab. It is roughly 45 questions long. The instructor said the first exam will be about 1015 questions long, and covers sections 1.1 2.4. In MyMathLab, there are videos over certain concepts per chapter. Watch the video to get more  of an idea on how to do a certain type of problem. Page 80 in Textbook Chapter 1 Review questions Page 153 Chapter 2 Review Questions Note: In the textbook, all the odd numbered questions are solved in the back of the book! Do a  problem and check if you are right to see if need to review that concept again. Note: At the beginning of each section, on the online version of the textbook, there is a little  video Icon. If you click on the Icon, it takes you over some notes and on how to solve problems.  These videos are designed for more visual learners. You will be required to know the three equations for lines: the point slope form, the slope  intercept form, and the general form. Make sure you have these memorized. Calculator Cheat Sheet HAVE THESE STEPS MEMORIZED! YOU CANNOT USE THIS ON  THE TEST! This sheet shows how to create a scatter plot correctly and most efficiently. Tip: Since there are not many questions on the test, carefully study each session. Do not blow  something off. Since the Exam is small, each question will be worth a lot of points. Tip: For those that do not have a Ti 83/84 calculator, my best advice is to get one or borrow one from somebody. No other type of calculator will allowed during this exam. There are things that  will be on this test that will be way easier if you have one of these calculators! Tip: Go over the notes that our instructor handed out in class. Do the example problems again  without looking at the answer. If you can get the answer correct with no help, you have that type of problem down.  Tip: MAKE SURE YOU LABEL YOUR GRAPHS WITH THE X AND Y AXIS! The instructor will  automatically assume the the axis’ are flipped if they are not labeled, and those are easy points  that will be taken off.  Tip: If you go into MyMathLabs and click on assignments, it will take you to all the online  homework questions. It is a good idea to review these questions, as they will give you a  refresher on earlier covered topics. Tip: Make sure you know what certain variables mean. For example, the m in y=m(x)+b is the  slope, and the b is the yintercept. Another set of tricky terms have to do with the rate of change. ● P(x)= Principle ● R(x)= Revenue (NOT RATE!!!) ● C(x)=Cost
