Financial Management Midterm Study Guide Reminder to classmates: Make sure to bring your calculators to the midterm A question will be asked from the movie, Too Big to Fail. Make sure to understand what that phrase means. It is a company that contributes so much to the economic stability of a country, that if it were to fail or go out of business, it would cause such economic catastrophe that the government has to try its best to assist in its survival.  Define: Liquidity  Define: Solvency  Interest Rates  Classifying Different Assets such as Fixed, Growth, and Current Assets  Calculating Market Value- price times number of shares outstanding  Understand the Matching Principle and Revenue Recognition  A question will be featured from the film, oo Big to Fail (we are still unsure exactly what It is but I suggest reading the plot of the movie and understanding what the owners have done to revitalize the company . oxic Housing Assets and Good Assets were also a part of the film so researching what this means is a good idea in anticipation of the possible question that could be asked.  Calculating Marginal Tax Rate (the tax bracket will help to calculate the rates correctly  Understanding the meaning of the ratios such as Return on Investment, Rate of Return, Return on Equity, Earnings Per Share. (Our professor once said that she will not ask us to memorize the formula because it will be given to us but we must understand the interpretation in order to get the full credit. Since there are so many ratios, it is extremely vital to learn all of it.  Other forms of Corporate T ax Rates such as Average T ax Rate, Marginal Tax Liabilit.  Time Value of Money such as calculating for Present Value, Future Value and using those units into the calculator.  Discount Rates  Understanding Number of Periods  Understanding and Calculating Annual Percentage Rate  Period Rate Formula  Computing Present Value with Daily Compounding  Effective Annual Rate  Multiple Cash Flows: will be used in more than one calculation of present value.  Types of Cash Flows such as annuity, growing annuity and annuity with present value.
