Sports Marketing Study Guide Exam #1 ATSW 375: Sports Marketing Chapter 1: Defining and Developing Objectives, Strategies, and Tactics Key Terms: OBJECTIVES- where you want to go and what you want to do (the Grand Canyon) STRATEGIES- identifying how to get there and what’s the best way to get to your destination (highway, etc.) TACTICS- the necessary things you need to get to your destination (gas, tolls, money) STAKEHOLDERS- people that are going to invest money to help you get to your objectives PAPER TEST- used to help organize secondary objectives (Promotion, Audience, Partnership, Environment, Revenue) Promotion: marketing, and communication strategies and tactics to inform target audiences about your event. Audience: the groups potentially interested in attending/ participating in your event. Partnerships: the strategic, beneficial relationships and associations established to enhance the even experience and/or to provide needed resources. Environment: the factors that can directly and indirectly affect the successful planning and execution of your event. Revenue: the positive financial returns of your event before expenses Chapter 2: Identifying Costs Key Terms: FIXED COSTS- actual costs, rent of the court…ect. VARIABLE COSTS- unexpected circumstances (reduced attendance of the game) PRO FORMA- Bid or contract for what event is occurring FRONT-OF-HOUSE- ticket takers, box office, coat check, things that are done before an attendee enters the event. BACK-OF-HOUSE-the janitor, electrician, carpenters, things that most people wouldn’t think needs done. The not so recognized jobs, the nitty gritty jobs. FULFILLMENT EXPENSES- sponsorships, what you agree to read during the event or promote during halftime or time outs in support of your sponsors
