General aptitude measured by IQ test: Standard- norms representative for a large population and a uniform procedure of administration->choice vs. essay; same test for everyone (SAT) Reliable- consistency of scores over time -> Exam today and next week. Validity- measures what it planes to measure -> measure head size is reliable but not for intelligence. IQ Test: vary among cultures Fluid vs. Crystalized intelligence: Fluid Intelligence- ability of a person to adapt to new situation. People perform best when in fronted with new situations Crystalized intelligence- the application of what has been learned already. Multiple Intelligence: Linguistic- ability to understand and use words. Logical- mathematical- ability to perform logical operations. Musical- ability to analyze, compose and perform music. Spatial- ability to arrange/manipulate objects in space. Bodily- kinesthetic- ability to control bodily movements and manipulate objects effectively. Interpersonal- ability to relate effectively to others and to understand others moods and motives. Intrapersonal- ability to understand ones feelings and behavior.
