what is Europe’s climate?



CHAPTER 9—EUROPE  

• Climate  

- Europe’s climate is very warm due to ocean currents.

• Regions  

- Formal regions: a region that contains shared physical and cultural characteristics.  The religion here is mostly Christian along with the race being Caucasian. The  language, which is majorly spoken, is Indo European.  

- Functional region: a region, which serves a purpose in economics, politics, social  reasons, and culture. This specific region contains 28 states.

- Perceptual region: a region that can be described as what we would think about a  place.

• The Schism of 1065  

- A major divide happened between a group due to a particular disagreement  between them. We also discuss several other topics like What is Neuropharmacology?

- In northern and central Europe, Western Christianity split.  We also discuss several other topics like What is Liberalism?

o Religious branches (majority in Northern Europe and the Mediterranean) were  Roman Catholic, Protestant, and Orthodox.  


what is Functional region?



• Secularism  

- This is the rejection of organized ideas and religious affiliations.

• A TFR is the average number of children that are born to a woman (woman’s age ranges  from 15-49).

- The replacement level is 2.1.

• The Netherlands is at risk of encroachment by seas.

• Results of the Industrial Revolution  

- There was a rural to urban migration.

- Britain was the center of it all.

• This is a midlatitude and arid zone due to it being far from the oceans—this causes it to  lack moisture.

- Kazakhstan  

- Turkmenistan  

- Azerbaijan  

• Lake Baikal

- This lake was formed in the rift valley.

• The Central Asian states have formed a partnership with Russia concerning oil and gas.  • A massive environmental degradation issue occurred in Chernobyl, Ukraine. - A reactor ended up exploding, and radiation spread, initially killing 56, but as of  now, thousands.

• In order to increase birth rates, Ulyanovsk has declared “The Day of Conception”. - On this day, you are free from going to work, so that you can stay home and “make” children.  

• In Russia, men have higher mortality rates than women.

- For men, the deaths are due to suicides.  

- For the working age, the deaths are due to AIDS, accidents, alcoholism, and the war  that occurred in Chechnya. We also discuss several other topics like • Renewable Energy Resources and PV potential • Why is PV important now?

o River routes are open longer.

o There is commercial fishing.

o There are longer agriculture seasons.

• There are 3 major topographic regions in North America. Don't forget about the age old question of What is a coronal mass ejection?

• The Official Language of the US

• The demand for corn and soybeans is currently very high.  

- This is due to more and more livestock consuming it, it is used in biodiesel fuel and  in processed foods.  

• The Quebec Separatist Party wants to secede from Canada, so that they can preserve  their culture and language.  Don't forget about the age old question of How are domestic and transnational terrorism related?

• Fuel fracking could make the US more energy independent.  

• Haliburton Loophole said that it was fine to put hazardous materials into drinking  water sources.  

• The #1 place from which the US imports its oil is Canada.
