What country has the most technologically advanced country in 1500?



Asia

China:

∙ Most technologically advanced country in 1500

∙ They invented paper, gunpowder, tea, and possibly noodles

∙ Had no need to expand because it had all the resources it needed ∙ Restricted trade with outside sources

∙ Exported porcelain, silk, and cotton textiles to Europe, imported silver from  Europe

∙ Divided the world into 3 groups: Chinese, cooked foreigners, and raw  foreigners

Japan:

∙ Extremely isolationist

∙ Set up trade with the Portuguese in Nagasaki, but replaced them with the  Dutch when the Portuguese tried to convert the Japanese to Christianity ∙ They ban any Japanese person who left Japan from coming back.

India:

∙ Great at making pretty textiles

∙ High demand for Indian textiles in Africa and Europe, high demand for plain  Indian textiles in the Americas to clothe slaves

∙ Europe quickly becomes the most scientifically advanced place on Earth. ∙ They are not very rich, powerful, or technologically advanced ∙ Europe controlled by the very powerful Catholic church
