o Schwartz argued that reinforcement produces response stereotypy/rigidity

o Neuringer argued that the contingencies of the Schwartz studies, not reinforcement itself,  produced response stereotypy.

o Demonstrated that creativity could be reinforced when the contingencies explicitly required  variability.
