Attracts certain metals.
Ferromagnetic (simply magnetic) materials are substances that are strongly
attracted or repelled by a magnet.  Most common magnetic materials: iron,
cobalt, nickel Magnetic Poles are the ends of a magnet where the force is concentrated.  North Pole or Northseeking pole is the end of the magnet that will point toward
geographic north
South Pole or Southseeking pole is the end of the magnet that will point toward geographic south  The Dynamo Theory says that a planet’s magnetic field is generated by
a spinning electrically conducting core
. Electromagnet is a cylindrical coil of wire that creates a strong magnetic field
when currents pass through it
Electromagnetic Induction is the creation of an induced voltage by a magnet
moving by coils of wire or coils of wire moving by a magnet
The amount of voltage increase or decrease varies based on the number of
loops in the primary and secondary coils.
In a step down transformer, the primary has more loops than the secondary and
the magnetic field has less of an effect on the secondary. The induced voltage is
also less
In a step up transformer, the primary has fewer loops than the secondary and the
reverse is true. The induced voltage will be greater also
