How do we reconstruct a crime scene? Draw it, photograph it. Do a walk through and develop a theory.
Recognize the physical evidence, trace evidence, testimonial evidence (witness, victim, first responder, etc.) make sure that it is reliable. Don't forget about the age old question of What is the castle doctrine?
How to record the crime scene? Photographing, videoing, Photos should reflect scene as found.
