  • step 4 Right atrium receives deoxygenated blood from the vena cava to the heart.

  • Step 5: Right Ventricle & the Chamber that pumps blood be the pulmonary
  • The pulmonary artery carries blood from the heart to the lungs. Conley volve that has deoxygenated blood
  • The pulmonary vein carries freshly deoxygenated blood from the lungs to the heart (+O2) only vein that contains oxygenated blood
  • Step 6 left atrium - receives oxygenated blood from the lungs into the heart

  • Arteries: carry oxygenated blood away from the heart (exception is the pulmonary artery)
  • Arterioles: much smaller arteries
  • Capillaries: smallest vessels are responsible for the exchange of oxygen for carbon dioxide and waste products. This happens through the thin capillary walls by diffusion
  • Venules: small veins that empty into larger veins. These have 1 way valves that help blood flow in one direction back into the heart
  • Veins carry deoxygenated blood toward the heart. They have a very thin Vessel wall.
