Interpretation
Interpretation usually has more evidence and is linked to 
understanding. It is the thoughts and interpretations of the topic. 
Opinion is a personal belief about the topic.
What is an argument
in a historiography?
The authors thoughts, assumptions, opinions/interpretations and 
conclusions. The writing should answer the “so what?” question.  It 
must have evidence that supports the writer’s claims. The writer must 
make claims and stand by them. 
The “who, what, when, where and why” questions must be answered as
well. 
A strawman 
argument
 An argument that is easily nocked down. Usually deliberate, to nock 
down another’s argument.
