THE FINAL EXAM WILL ONLY BE GIVEN ON DEC. 6 > > NO MAKE-UP IF YOU ARE ABSENT

Part 1: Final Exam Test on Thursday Dec. 6 from 4-5:15 p.m. (last class session)
To minimize distractions and facilitate best practices conducive to the educational
environment, the following rules will be enforced. Failure to comply will result in a one-letter
grade deduction on your midterm for each rule violated.
•  You must arrive on time. Students will not be admitted after the exam begins.
•  You will be required to stay until 5:15 p.m.
If you finish the exam before the end of the
class period, which many of you
will, you may read quietly at your desk.
You will not be permitted to leave the room so take care of any personal
business before coming into the class.
•  No electronic devices (phones, laptops, tablets or headphones) will be permitted at any  time during class period.
The exam is worth 100 points.
You must bring a #2 pencil to the exam as the exam includes a Scantron answer sheet.
The exam will also include two short answer questions.
You will be permitted to bring one 4x6 index card of hand-written notes to the exam to use as a
test aid. You may write on both sides of the card. You may write as small as you wish. The index
card will be collected with the exam.  Since the index card is optional, if you forget to bring your
card to the exam session or do not create one, you will take the test without this test aid.

If you require special considerations for the exam or have a documented accommodations
form, please contact me by Dec. 3 to make arrangements. After that time, you will be required
to take the exam as designed within the time frame as the rest of the class.

Part 2: Movie Viewing on Friday, Dec. 14 from 3-5:30 p.m. (exam week session)
I will be showing “Spotlight” during the exam period. This 2016 Best Picture Oscar winner is the
true story of how the Boston Globe uncovered the child abuse within the Catholic Church in the
Archdiocese of Boston. This is also a “Force For Good” chapter — 15. This is my favorite movie
about journalism, and the movie is a nice summary of what we have learned about journalism
all semester. After the showing I will open a discussion board for 24-hours for reactions.
Reactions will count as 10 points of extra credit on your exam score.  The movie is also available
on Netflix or to rent if you want to participate in the discussion.

GRADES: Final exam grades will be posted to Canvas a few days after the exam.  Final course
grades will also show in Canvas after the exam week class session. Please email me immediately
if there is a problem with your final grade. Once grades are “officially” submitted, I cannot
make any changes.
