Time management note anything that comes to your eye that looks out of order making sure that Visually the property is presentable to any guests who are either going to their rooms or coming to your hotel for a variety of different things that might be held always stop by the front of ce to check on the previous night39s activity including uptodate occupancy gures checking out the of ce log for all expected departures and arrivals will be taking place in the next 24 to 48 hours Always collect and review various reports were prepared overnight and remove yourself to a quiet place most likely your of ce where you will complete the required daily reporting and administrative chores Helps You Prioritize Well time management is important because it helps you prioritize your work Once you have a list of things you need to tackle you need to see what you should do rst What are those that are important and time sensitive That way you set out to do those rst 2 Get More Done In Less Time The other reason why time management is important is that you will get more done in less time When you plan your time you will see the amount of work that needs to be tackled That puts into context how much time you need lnevitably you will know not to laze your time away 3 More Quality Work When you plan your time you are making wise investment of a very limited resource time Knowing what to work on when and how much time you have to nish the work makes you more focused That focus on the work ensures that you get more quality work out 4 Keeps Things In Context Sometimes you may hear people complaining that there is no balance in their lives Ever wondered maybe the reason is that they do not know how to manage their time A possibility maybe One reason why is time management important is that it can put things into context for you If you see the list of work you have and the things you need to do then you will be forced to make tough decisions Especially on what to spend your time on and how to spend your time 5 Forces You To Do Things You Do Not Like 0 This is one of my personal favorites Why is time management important Simple when you write down what you need to do it is there staring at you You are forced to tackle it To me it is a target I have given myself and so I must live up to the challenge regardless of how much I hate doing it 6 Keeps You On Track 0 Whether it is a daily work list or a longterm career plan time management keeps you on track With your goals stated and time allocated the likelihood of you staying within the boundaries you have given yourself is higher Of course do not be your own jury and judge That means do not give yourself excuses when you start to procrastinate 7 Making Sure You Deliver What39s Promised How would you deliver what you promised on time if you do not manage your time Have you always disappointed your colleagues on the delivery of your part of the project Perhaps you aren39t doing well with time management Making sure you deliver what39s promised should be reason enough why is time management important 8 Time Is Limited There is a Chinese proverb that loosely translates this saying 39no amount of gold can buy you time Time ticks away regardless you like it or not Why is time management important Because time is limited Once lost you cannot gain it back 9 Helps Discipline Ourselves Time management is a huge part of managing yourself If you cannot manage time and won39t manage your limited resources how do you plan to achieve your goals I nd that learning to manage time helps to discipline yourself By now you should get a fairly good idea why is time management important Once you start you will immediately feel its bene ts That will keep you going LAUNDRY Most hotel brands operate as a managing company and the owner of the building has to pay invest in the equipment and space new amp replacement The hotel operator itself who has to pay the laundry bill operational cost has no investment depreciation in equipment and has to bear only the maintenance costs you can39t reduce the costs for valet runner tailor and the staff who counts the in and out of linen from the commercial laundry maintenance of machines the degree of occupancy malfunctions and so on If still you wish to make a investment in an own laundry we recommend To have spaces destined for laundry with own circuit of dirty and clean textiles and with good facilities To use good machines with good washing programs good nishing and with small chances of stop because of the malfunctions To use real professional products complete detergents and agents without chlorine and different additives who do not damage the textiles To work with consultancy rms from the laundry eld good advices offer technologies personal training and so on This is very useful because if you buy machines the dealers will deliver and install them tell you how they work and that39s about it One is also never sure what type of treatment is given to the clothes by the outside laundries as they tend to use stronger chemicals acids alkaline and bleach inorder to increase their production These chemicals in turn weaken the fabrics and the quantity of discard increases Technology selfservice checkin facilities can reduce checkin time for the hotel guests In some cases a guest can checkin using wireless devices once arriving at the hotel This may even be made easier for guests in the future who could checkin from home working on a similar system as airline companies If this works in tangent with nger print technology then it is likely that a guest will be given a time for when the room will be ready and the guest will be able to bypass any form of checkin procedure once arriving at the hotel This would work particularly well in business where guests can often arrive very late in the evening Promote ef ciency Security 1 Update locks Locks that can track who goes in and out of rooms can serve as a deterrent to theft quotWhen employees realize there s an audit process on door security it makes rooms less prone to theft Callaghan says Other upgrades include automatic deadbolts which can better prevent external threats from thieves or systems that eliminate the need for master keys 2 Make time for safety meetings Perhaps as part of a regular meeting schedule time to talk about guest safety Part of this time could also be spent watching training videos such as those produced by Safety Source Productions These videos accompanied by handouts are a lowcost way to share information about guest safety and can train employees about how to spot suspicious behavior 3 Monitor activity With software Having closedcircuit television to monitor the property doesn t matter too much if no one is looking at the monitors Recent innovations in software have solved that problem Coupled with software video cameras can now recognize activity in an area and provide an alert One example the system can alert when there is activity in a valet parking area Other options include using a third party to monitor the exterior of the hotel Some of these systems have voice command capability where operators can see and warn off people captured on surveillance 4 Evaluate and improve quickly Darrell Clifton director of security for the 1572room Circus Circus Reno Hotel and Casino in Nevada conducts weekly reviews of the property and even has checklists for staff to ensure areas such as stairwells are clean safe and well lit quotWe concentrate on our liabilityquot Clifton says quotIf we know of something that s happened if someone was robbed or there was an accident that area is quickly addressed We can t ignore it We do something immediately to protect from another event happeningquot 5 Meet and greet One of simplest but most effective ways of securing a property is to provide excellent customer service quotEngage customers you encounterquot Clifton says quotAsk them about their stay and if there s anything you can do to help You don t have to throw more labor at security Just make employees a little smarterquot By talking with people on your property staff can determine if there s a nonguest who may intend to commit a crime Employees should also look out for people who don t t the pro le of the hotel s typical guest
