Personality traits are a very important indicator of how people react in particular circumstances and how they are able to execute decision making and problem solving skills This kind of personality trait enables leaders to have a good set of followers to work together as a team Kroeger amp Theusen 2002 Though personality is an innate and intrinsic part of one s character there are any personality traits that can be cultivated over a period of time to suit a person These traits are psychological and a manifestation of these traits are very important in understanding how people behave and react and are able to assimilate to situations Kaplan amp Succuzzo 2009 My primary and backup personal creative problemsolving style includes a limiting style According to the personality test taken I possess the ENTJ one The results of the assessments yielded Extravert 56 Intuitive 25 Thinking 1 Judging 44 I also am the type who to use self awareness and self development to further my career Impact on management I am an extravert This means that I can communicate well with people be it my employer or my team member This is a very important quality because communication is the platform over which all other functions are laid to rest Being extraverted means that I can bring in those external thought processes where I can deal with problems both rationally and logically My secondary personality trait is internal where I am considered to be intuitive This means I tackle things through my intuition I am a born leader because I can make all kinds of permutations and combinations with the host of possibilities that I am surrounded with I have always been associated with great leadership qualities and normally take charge when problems surface I also have the ability to grasp the complexity of any situation and can assimilate a lot of interpersonal information to give quick and very decisive judgments This is the greatest skill of problem solving An inherent trait of this personality type is that these people constantly look at the environment with a very critical eye and also look for potential problems which can be turned into solutions Their problem solving abilities are with a long term perspective and hence do not have short term solutions Since these kinds of people have great leadership styles problem solving comes to them naturally They are relentless in their pursuit of action and hence are natural leaders Problem solving is one of the greatest skills that the workplace environment looks for Problem solving is not only a technique but also an instrument which can be used constructively to build great teams Gardner and Martinko 1996 It is that part of emotional quotient that drives people to work together The technique that is used to solve problems and adopt critical styles of self development is based on strategies of personal thinking The strategy that is normally used is a blend of emotional intelligence with empathy To gain this output I have placed myself in the place of the employees who are associated with a problem Since mistakes are the root cause of all problems mistakes should not only be omitted but eliminated Problem solving can be constructive only when people are made to realize how costly mistakes are both in terms of time money and efficiency Hence mistakes are the cause of all problems The strategy would be to eliminate all kinds of mistakes by teaching employees the cause and effects of mistakes In order to motivate employees not to make mistakes there is an environment of perfect execution of plans This can come about only when there is a workplace which has motivated employees and a perfectly working policy and process This is an ideal environment which has to be created If policies and processes are in place then it means that the chances of making mistakes are less likely Employees should be encouraged to accept this as their corporate working mantra and should enable employees to learn the same Since leadership becomes impatient when mistakes are committed it is important to communicate the very important effects of making mistakes and then learning from it Elliott Herrick MacNair amp Harkins 1994 My strategy for problem solving is a simple one Problems are always intrinsic in any decision making process The truth is to get people involved in problems and look for solutions from the people themselves instead of isolating people and the problems My strategy is a PP strategy where people and problems coeXist Problems will not arise if people are perfect and since people are imperfect problems arise In order to tackle this imperfectness employees and people have to be motivated into doing things perfectly Perfectness is that state of affairs where everything goes on well This can be realized only with a highly motivated team In order to motivate people to not make mistakes I believe that making people understand their responsibility and own up to their work is the greatest reward that one can get in a problem solving situation The reward is self accepted and self realized This is an intrinsic reward which employees will taste when they have perfected a decision making stance Cowen amp Thompson 1951 According to Behrens et al 2001 motivating employees with rewards and recognition is a traditional method of achieving collaboration and togetherness in action To get people committed to not making mistakes is a challenge which I handle well I have learnt that eliminating mistakes is the greatest asset of all problem solving skills Also the people who are given the ability to problem solve should understand that mistakes happen when people are not allowed to think by themselves and learning is forced on them My strategy I prefer to think laterally This means that I would base my thought and abilities on prior knowledge experience logic and outcome of decision making and look for failures and strengthen them Lateral thinking is a normal process which follows a set pattern of logical assumptions and exhibition of attitude This sort of lateral thinking enables people to create better solutions and be creative As an example if someone said to me that the gate was closed and hence I could not pass through I would not go back but instead look at alternate ways of approaching instead of thinking that the gate is closed so why check at all It means that I would use and explore multiple options instead of pursuing a single approach A person whose thinking abilities are preceded natural traits of problem solving is a born leader They are able to identify problems even before they surface and hence become directional in their problem solving abilities This comes naturally to them I possess this ability and should look at problems in terms of how they exist and try to eliminate them This can happen only if there is team support and team unity I will ensure that the avenues of problem solving are not the mantel of only the leader but also the entire team This makes the team involved in the decision making process and also makes them aware of what the likely problems of leading could be Hence total support from the team can be enlisted I prefer to motivate my employees to wear diverse hats so that they exhibit the different aspects of their creative abilities The most frequently used colored hat I would like to use is the yellow hat which spells optimism and logical perspective in thinking and looks for feasibility in everything that is done logically I would also like my employees to wear a green hat which is synonymous for creative thinking new ideas and additional alternatives This hat also enables people to be creative in everything Unless there is creativity in thought process and in a kind of change in thinking process there can be no self development and improvement Hence problem solving can really be astute if people foresee problems in the look ahead for solutions instead of waiting for the problem and then seeking a solution References Behrens L V Cooper S A Ernst L K Martin C R Myers 8 Nardi D et a1 2001 Quick guide to the 16 personality types in
