Question 1 Based on the research about virtual teams from Unit 2 how effective was your Simulation team What were the strengths and what were the greatest challenges What could have been done to improve your team experience What was the impact of the Insights team dynamic Include information on how you worked through scheduling challenges and time management obstacles In Unit 2 I had decided on my Top Five Key Practices for Global Virtual Team Effectiveness as being 1 Establish Leadership 2 Clearly clarify goals and objectives 3 Technology 4 Establish Trust 5 Team Formation Based on these key factors I would have to say that my Simulation team was quite effective We all agreed upon a leader from the start Having a strong leader was one of our strengths It enabled us to stay on task and avoid wasted time during team meetings Our team stayed in communication having usually two conference calls a week which helped us in making sure we were staying on task in achieving team goals and objectives and having that continuous communication helped to ensure everyone s goals and objectives were the same I think one of the greatest challenges for our team was just making time and coordinating schedules so that everyone could be involved We kind of got in a routine of days and times conference calls would work for members and if there were any issues with the normal days and times advance notice was given to the team members to nd another time that worked Technology was de nitely in place in using the Marketplace I also think sometimes our team over analyzed situations that came up in the simulation trying to hardly to relate them to the real world as opposed to the simulation Once we discovered the 39Professor Help39 section it helped in avoiding this overanalyzes though We needed to establish trust in other team members in regards to assigning tasks and trusting they would complete the tasks in timely matter I never worried if a piece of our project would get done As far as improving the team experience I was happy working with my team and don39t think I would of changed anything about them We were always in communication and I felt everyone had a good understanding of what other team members were responsible for If I could do anything differently I think it would be to take a little more risk early on in the simulation as opposed to later Question 2 Identify the collective gifts talents skills and abilities of your simulation team and discuss how appreciative inquiry was demonstrated in your team experience If you could provide an image to depict your team what would it be and why You can copy and paste a picture into your response if you wish I believe that our teams collective gifts were put to use right away in the positions agreed upon for each member We examined what each member of the team brought to the table from past experience and by implementing those individuals in a position that utilized that past experience and knowledge which I believe assisted in helping our team succeed Once each member was in their assigned role based upon their skill set they were then looked at as the expert in that area Other team members could question them however each team member was always ready with supporting information as to how they arrived at their decision which made the rest of the team con dent in decisions We also had a strong leader in place that made sure to keep our team on task and the team collectively was organized and well informed I found the picture below and think it would be the image I would choose to depict my team We all truly worked together to gure out what pieces t together to create a successful company aquotMiss I believe the most signi cant use of appreciative inquiry in our simulation team was identifying the possibility we had with the Traveler market segment After the rst quarter we became aware that we were the only company in this segment and from then on we focused on how we could dominant this market segment We saw the possibility of this market segment especially without any competitors We also planned for the future Our team started off slow and somewhat conservatively because we wanted to identify what positive moves we were making so that we could continue to make them in the future while still growing the business and taking on more risk
