Running head LEARNING TEAM B WEEK THREE OBJECTIVE Learning Team Re ection ACC 29 1 University of Phoenix LEARNING TEAM B WEEK THREE OBJECTIVE 2 In week three of class our team found the material and concepts to be very informative and a bite easier to get through Now this could be a combination of our team beginning to learn the material in more depth and it starting to all come together but either way we enjoyed week 3 The topic our team enjoyed the most was stocks and the different types of stocks There are two different types of stock which are common and preferred stock There are stock dividends cash dividends and stock splits A stock dividend is where the company pays a dividend with shares of stock this dividend does not change the holdings of the share holders A cash dividend is just that a dividend that is paid in cash The thing we loved the most was learning that we could actually convert preferred stock into common stock The dividends were a little easier for us since it is basically using a percentage point to figure out how much gets paid at a specific time That means if the dividends was 5 annually we would use 5 even if we were calculating the dividend for half of the year Stock splits on the other hand are something some of us were still having a little trouble with and will need to work on more to get a better understanding of how they work To purchase treasury stock Date Treasury Stock XXXXX Cash XXXXX To record purchase of XXXX shares of treasury stock at X per share Sale of treasury stock above cost Date Cash XXXXX Treasury Stock XXXXX PaidIn Capital from Treasure Stock XXXXX To record sales of XXXX shares of treasury stock above cost Sale of treasury stock below cost Date Cash XXXXX LEARNING TEAM B WEEK THREE OBJECTIVE 3 PaidIn Capital from Treasury Stock XXXXX Treasury Stock XXXXX To record sales of XXXX shares of treasury stock below cost Treasury stocks are another subject that some of us gained some good information about but that we also are having a bit of a tough time understanding how they work and how they affect things like stockholder equity Allin all last week was pretty good and this week seems to be coming along nicely as well so I look forward to finishing up the group project and taking the final next week
