The Costs of Health Care New technological equipment leads to the increase in health care Some equipment is necessary for hospitals and other forms of health care to function properly The new more hightech devices can diagnosis and treat certain conditions more efficiently for society These machines are very expensive and in order for health care providers to get their investment back they have to increase prices on procedures and treatments Another factor that increases health care cost is lawsuits Malpractice suits can end with a large amount of money being lost by health care providers To cover malpractice a certain type of insurance is purchase which can be very pricey Whether a surgical instrument is left behind or a person dies from not getting the proper treatment a health care provider needs to make sure they are covered for any mistakes that might occur No one is perfect and health care providers are no exception The high salary of health care workers is a factor that increases health care cost All health care services need doctors and even nurses to operate and the cost to hire them can be costly They have to be paid and increasing the cost of health care can cover their salary Without doctors and nurses there would be no health care so this is one factor that is a necessity Overall the high cost of health care affects patients in a negative way The more expensive health care gets the less affordable it is for individuals If people cannot afford insurance then they are less likely to visit the doctor for medical conditions Not seeing the doctor can make a small medical issue turn into a large harder to treat condition
