Do the few executions of Whites for crimes against African Americans adequately demonstrate that the application of the death penalty is not arbitrary or discriminatory I do not think the execution rate of blacks and whites adequately show discrimination within the death penalty I regard that the discretion between the execution of blacks and whites begin far before they reach the execution stage This difference in numbers begins even before reaching the trial process The difference in numbers began with policing methods attorney representation and even jury selection The result of all those factors leads to a difference in numbers of those who find themselves on death row The death penalty is the end of a subject involvement with the justice system however to point the finger at the execution rates is to ignore all the other factors that lead to that point If you have a higher number of an ethnicity being convicted arrested and policed more intensively than others you are bound to find more of that ethnicity being prosecuted and executed Does the discretion in numbers adequately re ect the discriminatory application of the death penalty I say no It more adequately re ects discriminatory application of the entire justice system
