Team C s Weekly Re ection Assignment Team C s Weekly Re ection James Samuelson Ashlee Niemeier Darla Lenard J acquine Morris RES351 BUSINESS RESEARCH Instructor BOB STRONG January 20 2014 Team C s Weekly Re ection Assignment Team C s Weekly Re ection Assignment Week One s objectives are about business research and why it is important for managers to understand to run a successful organization Business research is vital because it helps business owners find solutions to problems that he or she are experiencing within the company The research process is crucial to managers especially when making decisions that involve of risk Even though it is beneficial to do research it is just as important to know how to research a problem Maintaining scientific method standards are important because it generates dependable data that executives use to make accurate decisions within the company If scientific method standards are not met it produces unreliable data that management cannot use and causes the company to lose time and money Additionally it highly increases the risk of the managers making poor decisions for the business Business research can apply in every business situation For example in the Aerospace and Defense industry the preparation and execution of business research or programproject management analysis is only of value if it provides the stakeholders corporate programproj ect shareholders etc with the capacity to make the best decision with the data provided to realize programproject objectives Information on the technical aspects of the project program or the firm as a whole the potential impact of competitors customer federal government budgets international stability union and or professional salary or benefit impacts are vital as they directly affect serious decisions Team C s Weekly Re ection Assignment Managers today have several tools at his or her disposal to aid in decision making Computer systems and databases such as business intelligence and decision support systems are changing the amount of information managers have access to and how he or she approaches the decision making process While these systems are invaluable to managers they do not answer every question and in many cases will show larger problems that need to be addressed In these situations managers may need to turn to business research to gain more insight and information Understanding the relationships between business research and other information sources stem from goals decision support systems and business intelligence Last ethics are an important part of doing business research regardless of the methodology used Some of the most important aspects are getting consent from participants protecting the privacy of participants and companies and the security of the information used by the researchers Many of our team members have participated in several types of research personally from product testing simple questionnaires to medical research The goal of ethics in research is to make sure no one suffers consequences from the process of research Researchers must be aware of the credibility of the sources they choose to reference Week One s objectives taught our team about the importance of identifying and solving problems linking the business research process to competent decision making and maintaining ethical standards when performing business research Team C s Weekly Re ection Assignment
