Bead Bar Network Paper 1 Bead Bar Network Paper Your Name Axia College of University of Phoenix Bead Bar Network Paper 2 Bead Bar Network Paper Introduction The purpose of this paper is to outline the designing and implementation of a network that will meet the requirements of each Bead Bar member as well as the needs of all employees clients customers and franchisees When understanding the foundation of this network there is a need to look at the responsibilities of this company I need to develop a network that can accomplish every task of every member within this company To do this I will analyze the correct network topology that must be used as well as the specific network architecture I will then layout the advantages of this design and any drawbacks that may occur This paper should create new ideas and make the first step in the network planning process Background The Bead Bar hosts many responsibilities Given their large store base of franchises and customers this company is responsible for much paperwork The development of a database was a large step in the right direction This process has taken much hardships and labor out of the hands of the employees and corporate staff The downfall of this database is that it truly has no effect as all stores are not linked into one solid organizational medium The purpose of a network in regard to The Bead Bar is to link all computers and all stores to the main corporate head quarters All computers and devices within a single Bead Bar store will be networked together through an appropriate network topology The networked computers will then be linked to a main server within each store This server will have the power to process all tasks in that store That server will be linked to a main server located in the corporate office All Bead Bar Network Paper 3 other stores will be linked in the same way and connected to this server This will form serverclient architecture The corporate head quarters office will be able to have full access to the server The corporate staff will be able to view transmit and receive data from any given store as well as from The Bead Bar s website The managers and staff which are given access rights will be able to view each store server and all computers in that store which are connected to that server How can this truly effect all within the company 0 Franchisees All franchisee owners will be able to link all computers printers scanners and registers together in one network All devices on that network will be connected to a main server which will upload or download any data quickly and accurately These franchisee owners will be able to transmit data to other stores for inventory or transaction purposes Customers can purchase products from one store and may return them at another Owners will be able to upload or download paper work or reports from the corporate office instantly 0 Corporate All main staff of The Bead Bar will be able to have full access to every computer within every store Every transaction customer detail inventory reports and sales reports will be available instantly The staff may also hire Network Administrators to monitor and secure the network at all times 0 The Bead Bar on Board By incorporating a main server that connects to all stores The Bead Bar on Board will have access to the same advantages as those located in physical stores If the Bead Bar on Board had access to the internet through a satellite the staff will be able to access the network to process send and receive information as those in a physical store The internet is a large worldwide network itself This will Bead Bar Network Paper 4 allow those out in the sea to gain world wide access to all Bead Bar Stores and to the database There are satellite internet providers which will process the information to and from land to the Bead Bar on Board satellites The Bead Bar on Board may need to make use of GPS services to track its location when out in sea 0 Wireless Each computer will be equipped with a wifi adapter The wifi will allow each computer to wirelessly communicate information through low power microwaves to and from the network hub or network router That router can either process information wirelessly to the server or can be located right next to the server This will use less wiring which can lower the cost of the network and keep the store organized Recommendation Overview The recommendations within this paper will be presented to accomplish the tasks of The Bead Bar I believe a Star Topology will be effective in handling the needs of The Bead Bar In this network design all devices will be connected to a central point a hub The hub will be wireless Each computer will have a wifi card installed which will allow them to communicate wirelessly to the main hub Devices such as printers will be connected to a computer through an Ethernet cable All computers in that store will be able to read and print to that printer The incorporation of the wireless hub will cut back on running several wires throughout the store which will lower cost Clientserver architecture will be assigned which will place a server in each store The server may act as the hub itself or a standalone hub may be connected directly to this server Each computer connected to that server will be considered the client The server will powerfully process all data to the main corporate head quarters office This will allow any network Bead Bar Network Paper 5 administrator to manage or configure every computer in every store through a main server in the corporate office All servers within each store will be connected to the main server This will allow all corporate staff to send and receive information to and from each store to a specified computer or may print the information to a specific printer in that store Network Topology The design of the network will make use of a Star Topology This topology is reliable and less expensive than other topologies The devices in each store such as computers printers scanners and registers will be connected wirelessly through a wifi adapter to a wireless hub The hub will be the center points that will connect all devices to each other allow them to process information back and forth This topology will allow all employees within that store to communicate between each computer and to the corporate office Employees may make use of handheld PDAs or handheld Scanners to quickly handle tasks These devices can be wirelessly connected to a computer as well This topology will help lower the cost of the network Less cable will need to be run throughout the store The corporate office will be connected to that store which will allow a network administrator to update configure or troubleshoot problems to each computer directly through the hub Once the devices are wirelessly connected the hub will then be connected to a server Network Architecture The network will implement the use of client server architecture This architecture will make use of a server located in each store A server will incorporate a powerful processor and a large Bead Bar Network Paper 6 base of memory to quickly and accurately process information The hub which is connected to each device through a Star Topology will be directly connected to this server Each computer within the store will be considered the client The clients will send and receive information to and from the server The main corporate head quarter office will include the same topology and the same clientserver architecture as each store The corporate office will host a main server Each server located in each individual store will be connected to this main server This will connect all stores to each other and will place the main server in the hands of the corporate office directly The Bead Bar on Board will have wireless access to the main server which will connect them to all stores and the corporate office Network Advantages and Drawbacks Advantages 0 The Bead Bar will have access to all franchisees stores and information 0 All stores will be connected to one another and to the corporate office 0 The stores will have wireless connection to the network which will cut back on cabling and cost 0 All stores and the corporate office will be directly connected to the main database which will be hosted through the main server 0 The Bead Bar on Board will have the same privileges and access to the network as those in a physical store 0 Paper work will be cut down 0 The efficiency of the company will greatly increase 0 More services can be added to each franchise 0 A Network Administrator and a Network Security Administrator will be able to update troubleshoot and manage each server and each computer Bead Bar Network Paper 7 Disadvantages 0 Though the wireless integration will cut down on some cost the development of the network and its maintenance will be pricey 0 The network is not 100 reliable as the network hub may shut down or bottleneck slowing or losing the network 0 The main server located within the corporate office will be relied on for each store to connect to them 0 The integration of this network may result in additional employee training on the new systems Axia 2008 Conclusion The integration of this network will be a remarkable feat for The Bead Bar The star topology will adhere to the needs of the corporate staff The clientserver architecture will allow each store to be connected to one another and to the corporate office All these advantages will lead to success in this company The potential for growth relies on the implementation of new technology Incorporating a network is the first step to gain the grounds for this new growth The needs of all employees and corporate staff must be addressed and considered This network is the result of the ongoing demand to provide for those needs Reference Bead Bar Network Paper 8 Axia College of University
