Advantages of a solo practice: 1. More personal patient and doctor relationship Being the only doctor in the office you have a better relationship with your patients because they only see you. 2. Easier decision making for the doctor Being the only doctor in the office you are the only one who has to make a decision so you do not have to wait for some other doctor to approve your decision. Disadvantages of a solo practice: 1. More financial responsibility Being the only doctor in the office you have to take on all the financial responsibility. You have to invest in the office and the equipment all by yourself. 2. Long work hours Being the only doctor in the office you have to work late hours, weekends and holidays. Advantages of a group practice: 1. More peer interaction Being that there is more than one doctor in the office faster consults on patients is available. 2. Flexible working hours Being that there is more than one doctor in the office you share hours so you do not always have to work the weekends and holidays. Disadvantages of group practice: 1. Less individual decision making Being that there is more than one doctor in the office you have to all agree on a decision that is being made. 2. Financial risk for doctor Being that there is more than one doctor in the office if one doctor gets sued then you all get sued. Also when one doctor messes up you have to inform all patients about the mistake.
