Ethics embodies the value system that groups and individuals strive to adhere to Understanding and accepting ethics is important to all members of group in order to prevent dysfunctional behavior Organizations often provided written standards of ethics to promote a more positive attitude Individuals who fail to meet ethic criteria can cause conflict at work and in social environments Ethical standards associated with groups of people provide a basis for determining what is best for the group Group values help establish criteria that allows individuals to evaluate potential options and make reliable decisions regarding behavior I use to be a big baseball fan as a child so I thought I would use baseball as my example Steroids have been a highly debated issue in many sports arenas Baseball has been scrutinized excessively as a result of players unethical behavior The use of steroids proves unethical in all sports because of the added performance Players have not only cheated at the sport of baseball they have repeatedly lied and mislead thousands of loyal fans in hopes of self preservation The use of steroids has forced many fans to lose interest in the sport and question many players athletic ability
