Running head:  ARTICLE ANALYSIS 1 Article Analysis Name University of Phoenix MGT/445 August 15, 2011 Instructor Negotiation Situation ARTICLE ANALYSIS 2 In negotiation, when two states are facing a dispute the globalization has its implications  upon the negotiations process through third state involvement and interest in the resolution of the matter, whether the state may affect the negotiation  process directly or by indirect means. As in  the case of the negotiation situation between China and India, in 1962 the war between both the  states on the issue of the Tibet Dispute. For several years a disputed and unresolved territorial  issue for which both countries triggered several military confronts to gain power on the territory  by claiming it their part (Raghvan, n.d.). The resolved issue was put aside by international  mediation on the issue and more significantly the implication of globalization and the emerging  economic and technological needs of both countries in the 1970s through bilateral negotiations.  As India is the emerging economic power and China is growing in terms of economic and  technological. Implications of Globalization and Technology The Globalization is the integration of countries politically, economically, and socially a  global village possessing no boundaries in terms of economic, political, and daytoday life  among the people living in the world. Globalization has made the negotiation more effective in  reaching an agreement as the third party mediation and arbitration makes it possible for two  states to settle their dispute and achieve conflict resolution. Living in the global world, every  state is obligated morally to consider other states opinions (Bastian, 2008). The Globalization has further advanced the technology that plays a pivotal role in  affecting the negotiation process as globalization has removed the communication barriers,  through instant message delivery by email, telephone calls, videoconferencing, telegraphs, and  onair advertisements. People have fast and quick access to communication means to negotiate  ARTICLE ANALYSIS 3 with other states or partner living in other parts of the world. Technology has made it easier to  deliver a message from one part of the world to another part of the world quickly without  manipulation of the information. The technological necessities and growing international needs for growth and expansion  technologically as well as globalization has helped resolving disputed issues triggering enmity  and security concerns among states. The process of negotiation includes the cultural dimensions  and different values but globalization has affected it in such a manner people are able to adjust  his or her differences in a negotiable manner with an easy access to communicate and negotiate  the dispute through technological advancement. The interaction of statetostate over the world  has resulted as a growth in international trade market, therefore the economic barriers is yet  another mean to impact the negotiation process. Thus, globalization and globalized technology is an economic, social, and political emerging phenomenon that has a huge impact on conflict  resolution and negotiation (Tidwell and Lerche, 2004).
