Bus 370 wk 3 dis 2 Change Assessment CLO 2 Referencing this week s lecture assess the changes you have made in your personal or professional life and evaluate how well you maintained the change Do you agree with the argument that change is easier to make than maintain Why or Why not Respond to two classmates posts I have made changes in both personal and professional arenas and will probably continue to do so until I can t make any more changes in my life There are changes that we often make which may be wrapped around a New Year s resolution however being committed to those resolutions and or changes in my opinion should always be to better oneself and not to make changes in reverse and do not necessarily have to be at New Year39s As we live and learn making changes is important in bettering ourselves Retiring out of the Navy three years ago I was working as a sales rep and wasn t really happy but it was a pay check at the time After being laid off I went back to school Ashford in wanting to finish my degree Going back to school was important to me and a change that I desired to better myself I was 49 years old when I started and hadn t been to any college academia ever I had to change the way I put critical thinking to task It was difficult at first but knew there were others that had gone before me and making the mindset change was the easy part and quitting was not an option Sticking with it and maintaining the change was a little more tasking due to being on a limited budget and not working Making the commitment to change is the easy part whether it be quit smoking cut back on drinking working out more or finishing your college degree Maintaining the change is more difficult due to outside in uences which happens with life As Lewin points out in this week s lecture the present state or the desired state is the driving forces and or the restraining forces and Ideally you would brainstorm all of the driving forces for change and restraining forces hindering change From the brainstorming data you can then examine the restraining forces first to determine those factors that are a nonissue and those that are valid concerns Likewise the same process takes place for the driving forces This simple process allows an organization to reduce the resistance and thereby increase the driving forces for change Lewin 1951 Jobs family kids relationships and money all in uence our daily actions It is the commitment to change and the self promise to 39never quit39 that will keep us on task Life is what happens when we are making other plans John Lennon References Lewin K 1951 Field theory in social science New York Harper amp Row
