BUS434 Wk 1 dis 2 Global Wage Rates Wage rates in the United States are higher than similarly skilled workers in other countries such as China Mexico and India Consequently many US businesses have outsourced their manufacturing and production needs to take advantage of these lower wage rates Discuss how working collaboratively the federal government and US businesses can modify employee compensation packages to become more globally competitive Respond to at least two of your classmates39 postings Respond Companies that choose to outsource their jobs are paying workers pennies on the dollar to produce products that they are selling for a significantly larger price in the United States and in any business making profits is the main goal of the company so I can understand why companies choose to outsource jobs to foreign countries but outsourcing also hurt the economy here in the United States more because many after left without a job if their employer chooses to move the facility overseas In my opinion a few ways to be more globally competitive so that jobs can stay in the United States would be to cut or diminish taxes help with housing company paid tuition and maybe government assisted medical 1nsurance Recently I went to a storage facility to get a unit and there was a now hiring for management position sign in the window I asked the lady that was sitting at the front desk how much the position pays and she said 900 which in my eyes is a very low pay rate I guess she seen the look on my face and she quickly said well that includes a loft apartment upstairs with paid utilities cable and also a food allowance each month For someone who is just starting out and haven t established a family this is good because they are living rent free and is only paying out on the extra things they require and I think that because of the perks this job will catch the interest of someone References Henderson R 2006 Compensation management in a knowledgebased world 10th ed Upper Saddle River Pearson Prentice Hall
