BUS434 Wk 3 dis 1 Job Evaluation Methods There are two general types of job evaluation methods those that investigate the job as a whole and those that investigate the job from a variety of components Choosing one job evaluation method examine how that method would be the preferable approach to attain comparable worth throughout the organization and where it would not be the preferable approach Respond to at least two of your classmates39 postings The ranking method in my opinion is the best method to evaluate an organization as a whole using this method the jobs in each organization will be compared from least important to most important In my opinion using the ranking method is most important for large corporations for example Bank of America BOA BOA is well known for their banking services however they o er a lot of services which require a lot of departments such as customer service collections credit card auto loans and student loans just to name a few The ranking system would be good for this organization because there are thousands of employees doing dijferent things so to see department is the most important after reading the text book there could be a number of disadvantages to the ranking system one that stood out to me was the possibility of the job holders behavior in the position possibly causing their position to be less important than it really is therefore you have to have the right people in all positions so that you are getting a accurate job evaluation The ranking method would not be a great method for the military I say so because in my opinion each job is important because everyone has the some responsibility which is to protect the citizens of America and I can t see anyone ranking which individual jobs are more important than the other I understand that there are dijferent ranks for each individuals but in my opinion there is no job in the military that is more important than the other References Henderson R 2006 Compensation management in a knowledgebased world 10th ed Upper Saddle River Pearson Prentice Hall
