Explain the dynamics of how self esteem affects self ef cacy Provide an example of an internal or external force that impacts your self efficacy Respond to at least two of your peers for this posting and provide recommendations to extend their thinking Selfesteem and selfefficacy play a large role in motivation especially considering the impact that is made by how someone feels about themselves Since self efficacy refers to how well a person believes they can accomplish a task and selfesteem refers to how a person evaluates themselves Baack 2012 the ability to create and maintain motivation in the workplace begins with the individual and leads to how they affect the company as a whole Selfesteem is the basis for how a person would conceivably handle a situation given that typically a person with high self esteem are more positive and have the propensity to make more risky decisions Baack 2012 Selfefficacy therefore is directly proportionate to selfesteem given that a person with high selfesteem will most likely be more confident in his or her own success My selfefficacy relies heavily on past experiences coupled with current self esteem More than likely selfesteem weighs more heavily on the current ability to realize selfefficacy For example although I have performed a certain task hundreds of time enough to feel that I have mastered the task failure at a separate task would lower my selfesteem thereby lowering my selfefficacy even when performing a task I have mastered This task may be one I have been performing over the years making it feel that I could do the task without issue but a low selfesteem has the potential to overpower a positive selfefficacy built from years of success In instances such as this it would help to have a powerful ability to perform self monitoring by observing the situation and changing behavior accordingly as well as a high emotional intelligence to be able to recognize that a depressed state of mind can adversely affect the way the mind operates B aack 2012 If selfmonitoring and emotional intelligence can aid in overcoming the ebb and ow of selfesteem the ability to maintain a high selfefficacy is made more possible Reference Baack D 2012 Organizational behavior San Diego CA Bridgepoint Education Inc Retrieved from https content ashfordedubooksAUB US6 l 0 122
