1 Explain the difference between a lefttailed two tailed and righttailed test with examples from your own experience for each 2 When would you choose a twotailed test 3 How might you tell the direction of the test by looking at a pair of hypothesis 4 How might you tell which direction or no direction to make the hypothesis by looking at the problem statement research question A left tailed test is when you use the signi cance level to nd the cutoff score at the left of the distribution a right tailed test is when you use the signi cance level to nd the cutoff score at the right of the distribution and the 2 tailed test is when you use the sig level to nd the cutoff score at both ends We use the different types of tests when we have to do research on certain products that if they are selling in the range we want them to or not You would use a two tailed test when you are comparing 2 paired groups Often times they are used when doing quality inspection They don39t want the height of something to exceed this limit but neither goes under this limit The direction can be told by the wording like the key words are Lesser than or equal too 0 Greater than or equal too 0 Fewer than or equal too 0 More than or equal too 0 And more Often times where there are 2 groups we are trying to compare For example if we want to see if students in math majors are smarter than students in biology majors or conclusion would be only that either math students are smarter or nothing can be decided This is directional but if they said that are math majors smarter than students in biology majors and the other way around then we would use a two tailed test
