Good post XXXXXXX ANOVA is 1 Hypothesis Testing Technique 2 Used when the means of more than two groups are to be compared 3 Is called oneway ANOVA because there is only one independent variable For example we want to compare women who are working full time outside the home working part time outside the home or working full time inside the home on their willingness to purchase insurance There is one independent variableworking status and it is said to have three levels Fulltime employment Parttime employment Working only within the home Null hypothesis when comparing three groups HO m1 m2 m3 The null hypothesis states that all of the means are equal Can you provide an ANOVA example There are ve machines which have the same job but are situated in different parts of the factory The manager of the factory says that all of his machines are made the same exact way and have the same exact nishing time each machine39s job is to put a cap on 100 bottles then stop Unfortunately another factory owner who has competition with him challenges this claim and says that they not equal but rather some take more time than the others They conduct an ANOVA test using the follow hypotheses H1u1u2u3u4u5 H2 At least one of the means are different They nd out that the competitor is right and there are some machines which have different times But the person does not lose hope he decides to conduct individual t tests and the FishersTukey39s Test to see which are different and if they are greater than or less than the time though It39s found out that 2 machines are right on time while others are a little quicker Ultimately the competitor withdraws his claim and everything is quothappily after allquot
