In week 1 I learned many things that I had never heard off Learning about surveys was quite interesting since I could relate to it To learn about surveys and hypothesis tests was interesting since I thought about and related how those surveys I see always and think about how each one has pros and cons The most confusing thing was to remember all the vocabulary for these things we learned like alternative null hypotheses critical values etc It was all very difficult to grasp as well as remember the terms I could apply the concepts of hypothesis tests in my real life work since we have to use sampling and research to find out new ways to make things more ergonomic Something I would have done to make this a more meaningful learning experience is I would read all the DQs and participation because all of them have values which I can pick up and use when I need to In week 2 I learned this week about two sample tests z and t and the F test or ANOVA Analysis of Variance I enjoyed learning this but I got really confused with the ANOVA and its different terms I can use these tests in my work environment since my organization does ANOVA tests all the time for various purposes if its sales satisfaction etc They also use it to do quotregressionquot tests which I believe has to do with linear relationships Usually I had no idea about the excel tables with the different columns and rows and final f statistic Now I understand and I feel good since I can now understand these tests and make sense of them I would recommend that a class should have some 2 sample z and t tests to do and show all work so we all can see it and learn from it and if everyone does it would be great It can also be classified as one participation post In week 3 I learned about nonparametric hypothesis tests which are the counterpart tests of parametric tests which do not require assumptions and are quotdistributionlessquot This was a confusing concept for me since I had a tough time remembering the different counterparts for each parametric hypothesis test and I also got confused which test does or does not have a nonparametric counterpart I also realized that chi squares are actually used in my business to decide which processes do not have equal variances Like I had mentioned before I would appreciate it if we some more examples of nonparametric tests and we identify what type of test it is and what its counterpart is plus the hypotheses Also I would also like that we do the test itself using minitab or excel etc In week 4 I learned about correlation and regression this week more in depth and the key points for these topics like correlation does not equal causation regression requires assumptions like linearity etc etc I realized regression is used a lot in my work and I did not quite understand it that much back then but now I do so I can help with it Often times it is just creating the equation but then using the trend line to forecast I recommend we have some practice with identifying the different terms in regression like error sum of squares regression sum of squares mean square error I think I am mixing it up with ANOVA and also how each one helps us like the error sum of squares is minimized by the regression equation In week 5 being a business owner I identified with this weeks readings about the uses of forecasting Forecasting uses past data patterns or trends to predict possible future outcomes Forecasting can assist in determining needs income expenses etc As with any prediction of forecasts certain extenuating circumstances may alter the outcome I also learned how a linear trend method related to linear regression The relation between linear trend method and linear regression is time measurement As I mentioned above I will be including my new found knowledge of forecasting into my current business It does have its limitations Forecasting should be used as a guide or helper but not as a set in stone prediction Also spotting the trend is thought to lead to more reliable forecasts All and all this has been a very challenging class for me Most of these formulas I have not used for 20 years Needless to say I have learned a lot I was disappointed in the final exam I wish we had the ability to go back and reView the questions we missed I am a little surprised that this feature does not exist
