Team the following were suggested by my academic counselor George Smerda: 1. Correspondence and meetings will be conducted through the team forum. Lack of participation in the team forum for 72 hours will result in an email sent to the professor denoting that particular team member's lack of participation, unless noted by the member prior to absence or by emergency phone call. Every team member should make the effort to participate daily, allowing for each member’s opinion to be heard and for projects to be finished in a timely manner. Team members who know they will be absent on particular days should post any ideas, topic choices, or individual submissions prior to their absence. 2. Any email communication between members regarding course material must be copied to all team members and a thread must be posted stating that this has occurred. 3. Email and phone contact is for emergency communication when computers are down or a team member needs to be notified of a situation. Any phone communication will be posted to the team conflict resolution thread to inform and update other team members. 4. All work for the assignments will be posted to the team forum no later than 6pm central time three days before established due date. The final draft for the assignment should be compiled and submitted to the The Learning Team Charter is provided as a tool to encourage effective team collaboration. June 2010 team forum for review no later than 6pm central time on the established due date. The class syllabus can be referenced for specific due dates related to each project. Lack of participation during projects may result in that individual’s name being withdrawn from the final project, and notification sent to the instructor. 5. Every team member must completely understand the team’s expectations of his or her contribution to the final project. Every team member should post individual contributions correctly using APA format, and be available to correct their portions during review/edit days, before final submission. Any plagiarism is unacceptable and will be brought to the instructor’s attention. 2.Expectations for Time Management and Involvement (Participation, communication with the team, accessibility, etc.) 1. Team members should check the team forum daily for any new post and updates. Teammates should read all posts in the team forum. 2. Main source of communication should be conducted in the team forum. Other sources maybe e-mail, instant messaging or phone call. Ensuring Fair and Even Contribution and Collaboration What strategy will you use to ensure that all team members are contributing and collaborating appropriately? The strategy that I think the team should use is to evenly divide the work that needs to be done on the team assignments. Describe the communication strategy you will use if a team member is not contributing and collaborating effectively. 1. The main method of communication should be conducted in the team forum. Other forms of communication could be instant messaging, phone calls or e-mail but these interactions will have to be documented in the team forum for all team members to read. 2. We will stay in touch through our team forum 3. We should check the forum daily. 4. If there is an emergency, the teammate should either send an e-mail to each member or call the team leader to let everyone in the group know he or she will be abse nt. How will the team manage conflicts between team members? 1. Potential conflicts may include a team member not meeting up to expectations, a team member not showing understanding of another’s circumstances, or a team member not actively participating in discussions/projects. 2. A teammate not participating as equally as the other teammates. 3. A team member not directly involved in the conflict will mediate the conflict. If possible, the team leader should be the mediator and/or arbitrator for conflicts within the team. Team members will agree to a working relationship that entertains all points of view. As a final attempt to resolve conflict, the instructor may be informed of the incident. 4. Address the problem with the teammate. If that does not work, contact the instructor to advise him of the situation. The Learning Team Charter is provided as a tool to encourage effective team collaboration. Please refer back to the Learning Team Charter as you complete each of the Learning Team assignments for your class. June 2010 Special Considerations What do you, as a team, agree will make this team experience different from past team experiences? 1. Having new team members will make this a different experience. 2. The new and more difficult team assignment is also a difference. The Learning Team Charter is provided as a tool to encourage effective team collaboration. Please refer back to the Learning Team Charter as you complete each of the Learning Team assignments for your class. June 2010
