A message from Sieva and Jeff.
We launched the StudySoup peer-to-peer learning marketplace in 2014. When we were in school, we found that success in the classroom can be a pretty ambiguous thing. Every class has hundreds of hours of lectures and dozens of readings. Come midterm time, most students are overwhelmed and really have no idea what they should be studying for. But without fail, there are always a few top students in the class who know exactly what it takes to be successful. We decided those top students can help their peers, and make money, by posting their best study materials to StudySoup.
At the end of the day, learning from your peers is the best way to learn, because after all, who understands your questions better than someone else in the class?
Join us on our journey to connect students around the world and create a better learning experience for all!
Sieva and Jeff
Who we are.
Sieva Kozinsky is the CEO and co-founder of StudySoup. Sieva has a unique perspective on running an education company, having started StudySoup in response to frustrations that he and his peers experienced throughout high school and college. Sieva went to UC Santa Barbara, where he studied technology management and environmental science. Before his role at StudySoup, Sieva was head of business development at Reppify, followed by Sprigeo. Sieva loves outdoor activities including skiing, wakeboarding, volleyball, and more.
Jeff Silverman is the CTO and co-founder of StudySoup. Jeff graduated from UC Santa Barbara with a master's degree in computer science, helping him land an engineering position at Citrix Online. But soon he and Sieva found themselves faced with a lifetime opportunity, and Jeff saw a chance to help develop lasting technology in education. He might not admit it, but he's also one of the nation’s top ultimate frisbee players, and he's brought home many wins for the UCSB Black Tide and the SB Condors.
Rachel Carroll is an intern designer at StudySoup. After completing a degree in fine art at the Ontario College of Art and Design, she found herself entering the start-up world as a sales executive with a small SaaS company. Discovering a passion in technology, she is currently completing an Interaction Design and Development program at George Brown College. When she isn't working with StudySoup, Rachel is also a dedicated yogi and a UX/UI designer with an interactive development company in her hometown of Toronto, Canada.
Cody Eliason is the Head of Customer Success at StudySoup. Prior to sippin' the soup, Cody spent time ridding the world of food waste with Ecoscraps. Also former collegiate athlete, and missionary. Proud southpaw, golfer, and Dirk Nowitzki aficionado. "Drive for show, putt for dough" is his life motto.
Elaine Foster is an Onboarding Manager at StudySoup. She graduated from Michigan State University in May, 2015 with her B.A. in Linguistics. While at MSU, she loved performing with her choir and being a coxswain on the MSU Crew Club. Since graduating, she's moved across the country from Michigan to Florida with her fiancé. When she's not working for StudySoup, you can find her playing with her cat, napping, or going to the movies to stay out of the heat!
Kristin Honowitz is a Senior software engineer at StudySoup. After getting her BS in Computer Science from UC Santa Barbara she worked at a SEO software company in San Diego for several years before joining the StudySoup team. In addition to programming, her other passions include enjoying dark chocolate and watching movies.
Danny Page is the Head of Operations at StudySoup. An alumni of USC's Annenberg School for Communications, Danny split his early years as a professional as both an entrepreneur and TV sportcaster, before migrating to the startup world full-time in 2014. As a broadcaster, he worked for Time Warner Cable Sports, Fox Sports, ESPN Radio and more, and still continues to broadcast games from time-to-time. He lives in his native Southern California, is a massive football and soccer fan, a DJ, and spends any moment of free time traveling abroad.
Sarah Patterson is the Onboarding Supervisor at StudySoup. She is a full time student at the University of Utah studying Strategic Communication and Writing and Rhetoric Studies. Sarah loves to stay busy; between working with StudySoup and school she also finds time to hit up the best coffee shops and concerts in town. Sarah loves talking to and meeting new people and is always up for a challenge.
