Living On The Nicoya Peninsula One of the top tourist destinations in panama and nicaragua , is the Nicoya peninsula in the Guanacaste land. The area is known for it's world class beaches, which attract surfers through around the world. Eco-tourism is also a growing attraction since the interior of the peninsula is still undeveloped as well as , in places, relatively primitive. Outsiders who visit the Guanacaste region for either of those reasons spend a week or two , maybe a month visiting the area, and don't necessarily care about the amenities available for full time citizens. As an emigre, the actual amenities available really are a major factor in determining whether or not the Nicoya Peninsula is right for you. The cities on the Nicoya Peninsula provide all the providers that anyone would require to live, or retire, very easily in the region. Depending on in places you ultimately settle, living on the Nicoya Peninsula is similar to living on the Plains states or Mountain states in america. You can live miles away from big cities or live close to a city, while still living in isolation. There are lots of cities on the peninsula that offer modern amenities , that any american city would be proud of having. Modern medical facilities are available in Liberia, the Capital, and Nicoya in the middle of the peninsula. Liberia also has a global airport, though many visitors and residents journey by ferry across the Gulf of Nicoya and fly out of San Jose. In either case , you are likely to be closer to an airport compared to someone who lives in many parts of the rugged Mountain or plains states. Grocery shops , hardware stores, clothing stores, and other niche stores are located in major cities, the same as they're in most other countries around the world. You may be living in paradise, but the essentials of life are only a short vehicle trip away. The highways may not be paved in several areas of the Nicoya peninsula, but that only adds to the non-urban atmosphere that many individuals are looking for when they move to Costa Rica. If you are looking with regard to local produce, traditional handicrafts, or homemade specialties, then you will discover everything you are looking for on the peninsula, probably easier than you would discover similar local items in most places in the usa. All the usual providers that you would expect to find in a moderate sized town in America, Europe, or South America are all on the Nicoya Peninsula. Banks, attorneys, locks salons, and every other service you may finds necessary is supplied by professionals who live in your area. Many professionals are native Costa Ricans, but there are also a large number of expatriates from all over the world who have had the idea that you have had-retire or begin another career in paradise. There are very few professional services that aren't represented by someone who wanted to enjoy life on the Nicoya peninsula and could be working part-time, or in a completely different type of work, yet possess the expertise to assist you with any problem you may have. Actually smaller towns like Cormona and Jicarel have a surprising wide variety of services and stores for their size. Even though you may decide to live in a more remote the main Nicoya peninsula or other parts of Guanacaste province, you can still be in touch with the rest of the globe through the internet. lawyers in Costa Rica
