Costa Rica; The Good And The Bad! After reading a couple of great articles about Costa Rica one describing how beautiful Costa Rica is another saying that Costa Rica is a touch hyped, an article called Retiring in Costa Rica.I decided to give my tuppence worth. I’m currently travelling/working in Costa Rica, I have been here for a little over a couple weeks and I have to say so far so good however I do agree this is a little over over- blown. Below I’ve outlined 5 great and 5 not so important things about Costa Rica. Great Things 1) The people are genuinely good ! In my opinion this is something that visitors often say in regards to the people from the country they just visited. I often suspect it is because they only saw the within of a restaurant or hotel where the waiter is paid to be good to them. In costa rica however people are helpful and smile a great deal this helps put you relaxed and feel in your own home. 2) Amazing beaches When an individual hear people rant on about how beautiful the Costa Rican beaches are they aren't exaggerating, the beaches are absolutely amazing. Simply check out the picture over , and as of yet the beaches aren’t excessively crowded, so no fighting for towel space or no rubbish buried inside the sand, not yet anyways 3) Costa Rican Real Estate Houses are cheap right here , both to buy and also to rent. I noticed in advertisement during my local supermarket today for a two bedroom house with an ocean view for $350 a month, fully furnished. Now that’s an arrangement. The Costa Rican housing market hasn’t boomed yet but I’m betting it will. For more information on this click here 4) The Climate It’s hot 12 months of the season , yes sunshine and more sunshine, however this is each a great thing and a not so great thing. 5) Biodiversity There are more animals and plants than one could care to count. The colours in the animals and vegetation is truly amazing. You’ll see things right here that you won’t notice anywhere else in the world. Besides maybe in Disneyworld or Vegas! The not too great things 1) Things aren’t as cheap as you expect Although real estate in costa rica is relatively cheap the price tag on food in your neighborhood supermarkets isn’t. In the event that you’re used to a western diet expect you'll pay over the chances for eating the way in which your used to in Costa Rica. Foods that individuals take for granted turn out to be expensive here; cheese and most other dairy products are expensive. However fruits and vegetables are cheaper and much better. This may not impact you if you’re on holiday as you eat at restaurants most nights (comparatively cheap) but if your cooking food in it does take the toll. 2) Infrastructure Getting close to Costa Rica is difficult, roads are treacherous and trains are low existent. A lot of roads both primary and secondary are merely dirt tracks. The road program here is bad i wouldn’t advise hiring a car unless you have a death wish. Walking is equally dangerous; most roads don’t have a footpath. 3) Climate Sun 12 months a year, sounds excellent ! Right? Well right here it can be just too hot sometimes; heat mixed with the humidity can easily just be too much. I assume it depends on in which you’re from and what you’re utilized to. In my case I’m Irish we are not known for sun worshipping. Also, throughout rainy season there’s the daily storm. I don’t imply an hour of rain followed by rainbows and sunshine, these storms usually last a couple of hours and are followed by thunder and turbo. 4) So many animals! Okay, biodiversity is great but when it involves frogs jumping into your room at night, giant spiders , snakes, racoons taking your food on the seashore and so on and so forth it could get too much. I’m an outdoorsy guy , I love animals, however here you wonder sometimes if the animals or the humans are in charge. 5) It is beginning to be able to fill up! Costa Rica is quickly becoming one of the most popular tourist/retiree destinations in the world. Which wouldn’t want to come to live in Costa Rica, with beautiful landscape, seashores and cheap real-estate it’s the place to become at the moment. It also features a stable democratic government. However, this all has a downside, tourism is booming but the tranquillity and beauty of Costa Rica may be spoilt over time. Costa Rica over-all is a great place however like everywhere it's not without its drawbacks. Before I came here I expected far more , mainly due to the fact that folks spoke so extremely of it. I guess any time something is been vocal so highly of their hard for it to live up to its status. However don’t let me put your away visiting but just keep in mind it is not perfect! retiring in Costa Rica
