February 2 Superbowl Monday NOTE Today s lecture was very mixed a low response from students prompted Professor Talebi to go off onto a tangent about why the class wasn t reading so the lesson was not very clear 0 The Superbowl is a highly anticipated very important day for American culture 0 President Ronald Reagan s inauguration was postponed a day due to Superbowl already being scheduled for that day 0 If the inauguration of a president being postponed doesn t show you how important Sunday night football is to Americans then you may be oblivious or a tourist 0 Superbowl commercial spots go for more and more money every year 0 Companies know that all eyes will be on America and these commercials extra money is spent to ensure that people will see these advertisements 0 People often plan their weekends around the Superbowl 0 Even if you aren t a fan of the NFL or football if you live in America chances are you will be dragged into watching this game every year 0 Football watching is considered Sacred Timequot I From the reading sacred timequot is considered a special time in one s days to pray or meditate just designated time to be with one s religion 0 The Superbowl is considered sacred time since Americans gather around the TV in silence to concentrate on the TV and the TV only just so that they can concentrate on one thing America s religious game
