Outdoor time with your kids is special and should be treated as a good opportunity to teach them there is an entire world of fun activities outsidethe home. If your child is experiencing difficulty, see the problem through his eyes. Children put value on things that adults typically see no value in at all. Having a certain crayon may be extremely important to your child while it may not be important to you at all. You need to ensure your children develop the copingskills they need to overcome the hurdles they'll face in life. A child will learn a lot by watchinghow you and your mate use problem-solving skills tosolve issues that develop. Also, it will provide them with a realistic concept of the world. It is common for preschoolers to resist transitioning. It can be stressful to make an abrupt switch from one activity to another, and your child's behaviormay suffer. Consider what you are actually saying to your child. Your kids need to know that you are trustworthy. Establish rules and word them in a positive way sothat your children do not think of them as restrictions. Rather than saying "no hitting" try "touch gently" and see if this doesn't encourage more constructive measures of interaction. Never give any child under three years of age any type of soda to drink. Only give your children foods and drinks that will provide nutrients, vitamins and minerals that they need to learn and grow. When children start to socialize more with others, there is a large chance that they will start to learn some inappropriate language that you are not comfortable with. When your child speaks words that are impolite or inappropriate, firmly inform him or herthat this type of language is not acceptable in your home. Make sure to tell him that his language is inappropriate in private. This way, he won't be embarrassed if he is with friends. Place retro-reflective material on all children whogo to school in order to make their backpack and clothing stand out. Retro-reflective Velcro stripsare also available. Velcro is convenient to attachand can be easily removed or put onto a different pieceof clothing.
