Reasons Why You Need Car Insurance In New Jersey Car Insurance Page 1 N ew Jersey has long been known to be one of the few states in the USA with the most expensive auto insurance. Insurance is really very pricey that it has even led to a lot of residents opting to move to another state. But today, there has been a turn in tables, and New Jersey car insurance rate has already become more like that of any other state and you can also already purchase cheap car insurance in New Jersey. The requirements however for the state of New Jersey are quite unique to the state because in order to drive legally in New Jersey, you would have to abide with the financial responsibility law of the said state which basically means that you need to establish financial responsibility that comes in three options. First, you can buy the basic liability insurance which is the coverage that suits New Jersey car insurance quotes. This insurance includes a $10,000 coverage for injury or death to more than one person and a $5,000 insurance for property damage. Second option is the standard liability coverage which includes more options and the chance to add more protection and for your information, this type of coverage is the most popular in NJ. More specifically, this insurance holds a $15,000 coverage for injury or death for one person, $30,000 coverage for injury or death to more than one person, $5,000 for property damage, $15,000 for personal injury protection and $15,000 for uninsured or underinsured motorist injury. The final option is the self-insurance which is available only to those who have 25 or more vehicles under his or her name. Your first offense would mean that you have to pay $300, get suspended for a year and perform community service. The next offense would mean paying a $500 fine, two years suspension, fourteen days imprisonment and thirty days of community service. That’s how important it is that you get yourself insured! So aside from buying insurance, you must also see to it that you bring with your proof of insurance and financial responsibility so that you'll have something to show to the authorities in case you get pulled over. What's meant by this is that you should take with you a certificate of self-insurance or your insurance identification card which is typically handed to you once you buy insurance from an insurance company. So that's everything you need to know so you'll not get yourself in trouble when driving in the streets of New Jersey. Car Insurance Page 3
