Easy Tips To Maintain Your Wooden Patio Furniture - Wooden Patio Furniture _____________________________________________________________________________________ By Wenin Niin - http://woodenpatiofurniture.net/ One of the best things in the world for your patio is wooden furniture. When you go shopping on the internet for great looking patio barwooden patio furniture or gliders, you often find great sales on wood furniture. And this is because it is so very popular and it looks great too. There are a few specific types of wood that are more popular than others for patio furniture. Teak from Indonesia and pine or cedar from the US or Canada are some of the most popular. But wooden furniture has a couple of drawbacks that might even out the idea of owning it for some people. Wooden outdoor furniture takes a fair amount of maintenance to keep it looking good. It's not that this is a particularly difficult task but like most kinds of maintenance projects, you need to keep after it, to keep your patio gear in great shape. Caring for your furniture is simple and takes just a bit of your time but it really pays off in the end. The small amount of time you spend taking of your furniture is tiny compared to how long you will be able to enjoy it. First of all, you will want to make sure that you have a decent sealant on it. Something like polyurethane or spar varnish will do the trick. This coating locks the wood's natural moisture in and keeps the rain and the elements from beating the wood from the outside At the beginning of the summer season, when you are getting your patio furniture out of storage, you also want to be sure that its in good shape before you start using it. This means in general, that you check for splintery areas or any sort of rot or mildew that might have cropped up while the furniture was being stored. With splintery areas, you just sand them down with fine grit sandpaper and reseal them. With mildewed areas, you will want to be sure you use a heavy duty mildew killer, before you sand and reseal the surface of the wood. There is nothing quite so damaging to your furniture as to seal the mildew into it under a protective layer of varnish. It doesn't take long to keep your wooden patio furniture looking sharp, but it is an important thing to do. Even though you can pick up great deals online right now on new furniture, you don't want to be spending money needlessly if you don't have to. So… What’s Next ?
